I'm looking for anyone interested in playing in my general area: San Luis Obispo, or anywhere within a reasonable distance (a half hour drive or so is no biggie). I know there is someone listed on the infinity forums as being in SLO, but he only posted a few times back in April and I'm hoping maybe he frequents dakka since I know there's a bit of crossover. If anyone else reads this in the area then it's all just Christmas presents and cake.

Otherwise, does anyone here know a good way to find players? I'm just kind of wandering around looking for people but I've yet to see any proof that people can even be found this way :/. Any stories of success you mind sharing?

I personally joined here, and saw that I happen to live in the same city as chromedog (although I've never met him), so there is a certain amount of luck involved. The best thing you can do is to expand your circle of acquaintances. Go to some gaming clubs and ask around for other infinity players. You'll either find them, or in the worst case, have to make some.

The opponent/player finder usually helps.

It's easy enough to tee up a game with me, Dheneb.
Mind you, we have a fairly strong Infinity presence up here.

PM me. Given adequate notice, I can be availble for a game most weeks (but not at this time of year - too many family and friend get-togethers).

I've got two clubs (Cessnock and Newcastle legion) but I can also get to Good Games in town (just not on a thursday night). Cessnock is back on the 6th January, and legions back on the Australia day weekend sunday but I'll be down in the nation's capital playing in an Infinity ITS event).

Unfortunately, no room at home to game - which is why I have clubs to play at.

1) Own two factions and a table where you can put terrain.
2) Invite friends to your home to try this new game out.
3) Play.
4) If all goes well, they'll play as well.

Have you tried PMing the guy on the Infinity forum to find out where he plays? Its probably worth posting something on the official forum as well looking for other players in your area as there might be a few lurkers out there. There are a few threads like that in the Users section of the forum. And you might as well post something in the Find a Game section here.

Do you normally play at a club or LGS? If you don't get any success from PMs/ post etc then it might just be a case of having to demo the game locally.

How I found other players ...

I went to another club about an hour's train ride away. Some friends invited me along.
They had discovered this cool game called infinity. I'd seen it at a couple of cons, but never played.

One loaned me his starter set and showed me how to play. Said the rules were free to download (so I did).

A new guy joins the club, asks us about the game we're playing, so I show him the book (which I've now bought). He flips through it until he gets to a picture of the Marghariba guard ...

"Is there a model of this?" (he's a huuuuge Ghost in the shell fan, it turns out.). Bam, he's sold on Haqqislam. HE goes on to convert his local club to Infinity (they were all die-hard 40k players) over the next 6 months.

I tell a local gamer about the game. He tries it and likes it and converts his other gaming mates. In a little over a year, we had about 25 players within an hour's drive all playing the game - but it's about 2 1/2 years after I started. Building a scene takes time.

Fixture of Dakka

We have a sticky thread specifically for finding Dakkaites who play Infinity at the top of this subforum. I need to update it but if you haven't put your name up yet it is a good idea to do so.

The updates are a little tricky from my phone but I'll try and give it a go again. Here is a link.

For those who are in Australia there is an 'Infinity Australia' Facebook page with about 300+ members and there is a pretty large community on WargamerAU
