Battle of Belmourn IX
1500 Pts Necrons vs. Black Templars
Belmourn iX had once been a paradise, a true oasis amongst the stars. The nuclear war had changed that. And all that remained were the blackened husks of a civilization’s ruin, and dust. Utterly irradiated, only the hardiest could survive, completely unaware of the power beneath their very feet. An infinity matrix was an eldritch power assembly of some considerable power, and was extremely difficult to create, from the ages of the Ancient Necron Empire.
…Fortunately, this one was intact…and it's power was indeed once more needed.

For days the Necrons of the Bedouin Dynasty has labored over the tomb. The warriors repurposed, and the artifact painstakingly removed, leaving dead, empty halls behind it. Laboriously and meticulously prepared for Transport, High Cryptek Teletrix spared no caution. He had been left in charge by Xerxius while he delayed the humans worlds away, distracting them from the true target. The tomb’s warriors milled about in patrol patterns, while Teletrix and the court attending him oversaw the final preparations when the perimeter motion detectors began to chime.

One lord, a minor noble was quick to dismiss the threat.
“Likely the local beasts. Nothing to worry about.”
Another, more suited to his station named Hephestus, replied
“Beasts? There haven’t been beasts of this size since the nuclear apocalypse.”
Teletrix snapped up from his duties
“Its an attack you fools, logic dictates immediate action. Go to your squads immediately, and form a defensive perimeter! I need not remind you of the cost of failure!”

All around, the Necron formation whirred, stomped and hovered into a cohesive battle line

In the immediate distance, the ground began to shake under the armor of the Emperor’s own Black Templars. The phalanx had covered a great deal of distance under the cover of night and aimed to drive the Necrons away from whatever prize they sought.

Templar Deployment

Night Fighting First Turn
Necron Initiative

The Necrons array themselves in a battle line as close the the relic as possible, ready to fry vehicles with their gauss flayers and gauss blasters, ready to drown the foe in bodies. The Triarch Stalker centers itself in the center of the battle line, with barges taking the flanks.

The Marines take a direct approach, using their land raiders to shield their rhino and vindicator.
And they then seize the initiative.

Turn 1 Templars
“Forward! Bring these Xenos to heel! For the Emperor! CHARGE!”
The Templar Vehicles Rocket Forward, firing lasacannons into the Stalker, which stands undamaged between its shielding and cover saves. However, the whole marine army is quite close to the Necrons now. The vindicator cannot fire, the land raider is blocking its line of sight.

Turn 1 Necrons
The Necrons advance into rapid fire range, lining up targets, and the entire army opens up in a savage volley.
“Warriors….focus your fire on the land raider” Says Teletrix, leading a host of 20 warriors.
The tactic is effective, as both land raiders are glanced to death, and the vindicator is wrecked as one of the annihilation barges manages to catch its side armor with a tesla destructor. It explodes violently, raining the area in shrapnel.
The marines pile out directly towards the Necron host, screaming War cries.

Turn 2 Templars
Paying no heed to the carnage they have left behind, the Templars charge into the ranks of the immortals and warriors.
The Emperor’s champion, the righteous embodiment of zeal, singles out Teletrix
“You! Xenos filth! Come to my blade!”
“Physical confrontation? Heh….”
He accepts the challenge, and each wounds the other once as the Champion’s power sword is blunted by Teletrix’s defenses, and the Cryptek’s augmented strength manages to help negate some of the Templar’s
The warrior blob holds admirably, after causing a few casualties with overwatch. They hold.
Meanwhile on the other side of the formation, The immortals fare poorly, however they hold for the round. The squad’s attending lord wins his challenge, cutting down the company champion before his power fist can be brought to bear with a pair of vicious swings.
The rhino parks by the Infinity Matrix, and disgorges a tactical squad onto the ruins, they take defensive positions.

Turn 2 Necrons
Unengaged Barges, Stalker, and immortals position themselves to fire on the tactical squad threatening to steal their prize and their rhino, filling the air with a hail of gauss and tesla fire. They cut down several marines, and cause the rhino to explode. The stalker then charges into the marines, whose krak grenades are incapable of harming it. It cuts down several of their squad.

Meanwhile, the melee grinds on with the warriors and Templars causing no real injury to one another. However, the lone lord folds to the command squad, whom consolidate to assist their engaged brothers.

Turn 3 Templars
The Command squad, with a triumphant shout, crash into the ranks of the warrior blob, scything them down, and causing the unit to break and run. The company champion challenges Teletrix to a duel once again.
“Come to me Xenos, and know death!”
“You….you know nothing of death.”
He cuts him down in a violent series of sword thrusts, and rejoins his brother in sweeping aside the remaining living Necrons.
However….they are now unengaged with multiple squads waiting to open fire on them in the open!

Turn 3 Necrons
Lord Hephestus, coordinating the battle following the defeat of Teletrix, urges his immortals onwards to the Infinity Matrix.
“Now warriors, show them the meaning of fear! Open fire!”
Simultaneously, three annihilation barges, a warrior squad, and the immortals all open fire on the command squad, thanks to strong armor saves and feel no pain, the squad hangs on just barely, their chaplain urging them on to finish the battle!
Meanwhile at the Matrix, the marines are faring poorly, as only one or two marines are left alive from the relentless assault of the stalker.

Turn 4 Templars.
The company champion roars a battle cry, and races towards the triarch stalker mercilessly pulveriving his brothers, while the rest of the remaining marines charge the warrior squad, the chaplain beats down he cryptek in a challenge with ease. But the warriors trade evenly with the marines in wounds, and stay put, the cryptek rises once more to battle as well.
The champion gets the assault on the stalker, and fails to penetrate with his fist, as the stalker wiffs against him

Turn 4 Necrons
Lord Hephestus, in command, charges his immortals into the powerfist wielding marine, challenging him to a duel. He accepts, right before being cut into four pieces by warscythe attacks. The stalker then finishes off the tactical squad, consolidating towards the final marines.

The warriors break and run, however they escape immediate death by the tiring marines.

Turn 5 Templars
The marines charge the Necrons who did not run far, they pass morale to actually defend themselves however, and stick into the fight!

Turn 5 Necrons
Lord Hephestus eagerly picks up the infinity matrix, assuring it’s security for the dynasty!
The Triarch stalker hauls off after the Templars, charging into their lines, and sowing death.

At this point, my friend concedes the game, despite there being a turn 6

Victory Necrons! 5-2
Relic +3
First Blood +1
Slay the Warlord +1

Linebreaker +1
Slay the Warlord +1

The Necrons hauled themselves back together slowly, the ferocity of the attack having thinned their numbers substantially. Amid the carnage, Teletrix re-attaches his head to his shoulders, dusting off his armor.
“Bah…damned humans, so blunt and headstrong…must re-calibrate the firing mechanics of these new troops” He grated…. allowing so many frontal assaults was not good for the numbers of the numbers of the dynasty. However, the carnage had been worth it he believed, the infinity matrix was secure, and would be of aid to the effort to finish the world engine’s repairs.

He gazed over the smoke ridden battlefield, scarabs swarming over the dead, assuring their enemies were indeed slain, and those who could not be repaired were melted down for scrap. Nothing could be wasted, for that would surely lead to ruin.

Shortly thereafter, the Necron fleet re-established orbit around Belmourn IX having broken away from their engagement with the humans, collecting their precious cargo, war materials and soldiers in the process. There were many other parts yet needed, and a long journey ahead, however, such things begin with simple, small steps.

the Templar list seems pretty weird to me, taking 2 LR's at 1500 points.

There is only the Emperor! He is our shield and protector.

Crimson Fist- 9,000+

The Templar list is 1581 points. It's also one of the most glaring examples of a bad BT list I've ever seen.
