When you deepstrike a unit, how do you determine the maximum distance to where the model may be positioned? I see three possible scenarios:

1). Measure from the Librarian;

2). Measure from any model in the unit so long as all other models are within 24" of the desired deepstrike position;

3). Measure from any model up to 24" to the desired deepstrike position regardless of the distance from the other models to said position.

Its probably not 1). necessarily, because that would require more rules not included in the codex or in the rule book (I think), but I can't decided on 2). or 3). Please help.

Hmm. You solution looks like 3)., but maybe not. What the difference?

Pg 422. I'm not sure what the misunderstanding is. The rule is pretty simply laid out there. Place a marker in btb with a model. Remove unit from the board. Place first DSing model within 24".

Ah, right on. Thanks for the citation. I am looking at the psychic powers for SM librarians in the Space Marine Codex. Is the book power the Gate of Infinity go-to now, not the codex language?

No, if you are using the SM codex version of Gate of infinity, you use the wording in the SM Codex.

So then what's the answer to my OP?

As long as the librarians unit is within 24 inches of where they were, meaning no model can be more than 24 inches away from where it started, you are good to go.

Remember you have to use the Deep Strike rules, so #1 would probably be the safest way to play it.

You may deep strike anywhere within 24" of where a memeber of the unit was before they deep struck.

So within 24" of any member of the unit's previous position.

So #3

As GT said. When measuring distance to/from a unit, you measure to the edge of the closest member's base.
