Thought of another backbone to a necron list. Triarch stalker with a monolith on either side, expensive and slow moving but dam powerful. Add imotekh or acouple solar pulses to help bring the range in an blast away . Now this is a idea for a backbone, adding things like deathmarks and other units to counter threats would just add to its strength!

Err, why wouldn't you just use a Stalker and two Doomsday Arks?
Not only would you have better range, but the guns would be more powerful. (Not to mention it would be significantly cheaper).
Also, I don't know how many times we have to keep stressing this, but shooting and Imotekh are NOT good combinations.
Night fight will gimp your own range, as well as your opponents (and don't get me started on how bad of an idea it is to use Solar Pulses on your own turn to cancel out Imotekh's storm)

A doomsday ark wouldnt be able to move and fire at full effectiveness....
Monoliths are also more durable as well...
2 monolihts and imotekh might be overdoing it though. I would leave him at home unless its a 3k point game or something.
I would like to see this, possible with some warrior phalanxes on either side to add some weight to your army.

Wouldnt use doomsday because the idea is to roll forward and moving them seriously fecks them!!
night fighting only really seriously screws you from over 24" away ..... hello 24" particle whip!!
plus hitting enemy anti tank is where things like deathmarks and immortals plus stormtek in a nightscythe come in.
this is a idea to break the norm, i know the generic lists and if i wanted to be a sheep and use one rather then try to explore new directions i wouldnt be posting.

Wait, if you're running Death&Despair and Nightscythe Storm-teks... what exactly is the point of the Monoliths? Just to have them for the sake of including them? They don't really seem to be filling a role that other things couldn't accomplish more effectively.
And generally Doomsday Arks have enough range that they dont need to worry about moving, but okay, enjoy your delicious melta.
