I'm slowly building an Imperial Guard army for WH40K. The basic idea behind this army is that it was formed on the battlefield with battle-scarred remnants of both Cadian and Catachan units; the end result is an army with a rougher look than the typical prim and proper Cadian regiment, though usually better armoured than the typical Catachan force. What I did to get that feel is, for ordinary Guardsmen, combine Cadian torsos and legs with Catachan arms and heads. For veterans, I'll use Catachan figures, BUT with third-party beret heads for a total kick-ass 'commando' look and feel.

Here are my most basic Guardsmen, assembled for the most part but not yet painted:

And two Sergeants, two Vox Operators, Flamer Guy and Platoon Commander:

I'm VERY satisfied with the Sarges and the Platoon Commander, less satisfied with the Flamer and unsatisfied with my work on the Vox Ops. I might do some changing to the Vox Ops soon.

Here is my first Chimera, assembled, primed and pre-shaded this evening. Still a lot of work remains to do on it!

The same chimera, now with basic camo paint and preliminary tread paint. Next step would be to paint the metal parts black and then wash the whole thing with Earthshade for some shading; then drybrush the metal parts with Leadbelcher.
