Subject: Eldar vs. Tau (1500) - Quick Report

So last Saturday at GW Berlin Spandau I battled Immo with his Tau. (Sorry for not taking pics this time).
Eldar list:
Fuegan
Fortuneseer
10 Warlocks
10 Harlies w/ kisses, Shadowseer
2x 10 Dire Avengers
2x 5 Pathfinders
3 Warwalkers w/ scatterlasers
2 Wraithlords w/ scatterlaser, shuricannon
Tau with Eldar allies:
Tau Commander
Farseer
2x 3 Crisis Battlesuits + Drones
6 Stealths + Drones
2x 10 Fire Warriors
20 Kroot Carnivores
3 Guardian Jetbikes
2x 3 Broadsides + Drones
Mission: Big guns never tire (5 objectives).
Deployment: Hammer and anvil.
Tau was setting up first, with Broadsides in the backfield (one of each at an objective), Crisis and HQ (Warlord with trait Master of Ambush) in front of them, and Fire Warriors in front of the Crisis.
Kroot Carnivores and Stealths were infiltrating close to their front ranks. His plan obviously was to stop the advance of my units. Farseer was babysitting the Broadsides getting divination.
Eldar was setting up the Council with Fuegan and the Harlies in close proximity. There were two ruins in the backfield. Each ruin contained an objective. I splitted the remaining units symmetrically, one Pathfinder unit, one DA squad and one WL were deployed at each ruin. Warwalkers were outflanking. My Farseer (Warlord) got the trait Strategic Genius.
The fifth objective was depolyed in the centre.
Surprisingly, I have stolen the initiative. There was no night fight and so I was pretty happy with this.
First turn, my Council incl. Fuegan and the Harlies moved forward, while the remaining units provided fire support. Nothing really happened.
The Tau were concentrating fire on the advancing unit but managed only to down two Warlocks. Broadsides failed to kill a WL.
Second turn, the Council incl. Fuegan were charging the Stealth unit wiping it out. Similarly, the Harlies killed all Kroot Carnivores. The Warwalkers appeared at a flank and decimated one Fire Warrior squad.
The Tau were now targeting my melee units but couldn't do much damage.
Third turn, the Council incl. Fuegan and the Harlies were ready to charge the (two) Fire Warrior units, and the Warwalkers were in charging range of the Guardian Jetbikes.
The enemy surrendered and fled from the battle field.
Glorious victory for Eldar. Cheers!

Somehow I don't like most footdar lists (don't know really why) but your's is a different thing
It looks to be a well thought list. It also has a foot Seer Council and I lately was thinking about introducing to my force but didn't really know how to do it.
You showed me an interesting way of using them and synergizing with the rest of the army.
Do you have a feeling that you have enough AT for high AV targets? I know you have Fuegan, Seer Council and Wraithlords but is it really enough?

Well, in former editions I played mostly mech Eldar. But the new edition requires rethinking. Stripping off hull points is a bad thing and you can almost do nothing against it.
The Tau army didn't manage to kill any of my units. Fuegan running in front of the Council is a beat stick. If fortuned, the Council is hard to stop. The same goes for the Harlies. If they are in cover, they get an amazing 2+ cover save. They stood in front of the Fire Warriors in cover and the enemy could do anything to stop them.
In terms of anti-tank, I'm not really worrying about it, since we will see less tanks in the new edition.

Nice report, will take some of your ideas and past them along to my brother (eldar player) as he is finding it hard.

What powers did you give your warlocks? Any spears?
Also did you not fortune the harlies too or just fuegans unit?
Not a lot of anti tank I noticed, if fuegan went down did you have any alternative plan for dealing with mech?

My Seer Council always has a standard loadout with embolden (x2) and enhance (x1).
I ran a Fortuneseer and fortuned the Council all the time. The Harlies with a boosted 2+ cover save were able to hold their own.
Anti-tank was not a problem since Tau didn't run tanks. On the other hand, Fuegan can take on every tank in the game; almost the same holds for the Council which only had witch blades.
Fuegan is hard to kill with a rerollable 2+ armor save and FnP. Moreover, he can use LoS for AP 1/2 weapons. Then the Warlocks had to take the hit with a rerollable 4+ inv. save. Tau poured everything they had into this unit at one round of shooting. But almost all shots bounced off.
