In the warp, searching for Marbo

I've been playing around with a fun (possibly horrible) idea of making a melee focused IG army.

Thinking of something between 500-1000pts, anyone got any suggestions? Bad or not, I would like to run it for those time where I just feel like screaming WAAAGH and watching my men explode for the fun of it.

Not starting a Ork army, wouldn't mind, but I got plans for my IG and other future armies already.

So, if you got any list that looks like it'd have at least a 25% chance of victory against any race, please post it.

After all these years of searching for Marbo...he found me. Heretics beware! He's back!

I know its FW but your best bet could be to try DKOK. They come with +1 weapon skill and die hards so they dont suffer Ld modifiers in CC, plus their normal squad sergeants can take power fists.
Following that line for 1000pts;

DKOK CCS - 150
carapace armour
power fist
2 flamers
regimental standard
2 bodyguards

Platoon 1
DKOK PCS - 65
power fist
2 flamers
DKOK IS - 85
power fist
meltagun
DKOK IS - 85
power fist
meltagun
DKOK IS - 85
power fist
meltagun
DKOK IS - 85
power fist

DKOK IS - 85
power fist
meltagun

10man DKOK Engineer Squad - 180
hades breaching drill
demo charge or gas grenades

5man DKOK Deathrider Squad - 90

5man DKOK Deathrider Squad - 90

So there is the fists to deal with terminators or light vehicles, meltaguns for heavy vehicles, bodies for meatshield, engineers for deep striking magma template followed by either a I10 attack or demo charge, then the 2 throw away units of death riders to deal to MEQs with I5 S6 hits on the charge at ap3.

Note with DKOK, infantry squads have the option to switch their lasguns for laspistols and CCW if you want to go all out melee.

This could be changed to the normal IG codex by changing the fists to swords and switching the engineers to storm troopers. You would also want to invest in a commissar or two then and maybe with the extra points take another small platoon.

If you do go traditional IG, probably best to go catachans, so take Straken, Harken and Marbo for a hard CCS, and a couple of sneaky/infiltratey gits.

Good hunting

Forgive me for being a noob, but which book are the DKOK in? The IG Codex has no specific stats for specific regiments...

Oh the DKOK are from forgeworld so I'm not sure what book exactly its from, probably an old white dwarf or something but I got mine through more unscrupulous methods. Pretty much the only difference is that their guys all have +1 WS, wont suffer Ld modifiers in CC and can regroup if with 6" of an officer even if below 50% or something and as a result all their units are just 10pts more expensive than the usual codex. They cant take ogryns or ratlings and their stormtroopers cant deep strike or take special operations so are useless. The only nice thing about them is that their infantry platoons are a little bit better with the extra rules and they can take a heavy weapons platoon as a heavy support option comprised of a PCS and 5 heavy weapons teams.

the DKoK List is originally pulled out of IA:5, but was later updated to bring the list in line with the 5th edition codex. Since 6th Edition came out though they dropped the pdf from their downloads page as far as i'v been able to tell.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!
