    Map and Deployment
    Spoiler:

    Overview of the battlefield

Space Marine Objectives: Gold Tokens are Primary Objectives (3 in the SM Deployment zone), Servo Skull (on the hill to the left) is Secondary Objective Marker

The Inquisitorial Troop Choices being a tad bit more fragile than tactical marines have the Primary and Secondary Objectives placed behind line of sight blocking terrain.

The Grey Knights combat squad, psy cannons and a single halberd going behind the Chimeras, Halberds and Thunderhammer starting in their Razorbacks. Three inquisition squads are holding the objectives (1 squad per) while 3 more remain in reserve. The Dreadknight is deepstirking. Note: No more Lego Chimeras, I finially assembled all my vehicles!

The Betrayed Thousand Son Space Marines respond by deployming a respectfull distance behind the edge of their deployment zone. Thunderfire cannon and two combat squads of tactical marines with Lascannons are placed on the center hill (3 inches up, but no terrain rolls for cover). An empty Land Raider and a Dreadnought hold the near flank, Predator and razorbacks with x5 Marines each hold the far flank. TH/SS Terminators and the Terminator Librarian are deepstiking.

    Turn 1
    Spoiler:

The Inquisition identifies its objectives and there are 2 "Nothing of Interest" and 1 "Targeting Array" (which, just like my warlord trait I will forget to use the entire game).
All Grey Knights and Inquisitors get in their Vehicles and Burn 12 inches forward. Two Razorbacks turbo boost an additional 6 inch in the hope of either punching through the flanks or at least drawing some fire away from the psycannon loaded chimeras. Everything is out of psycannon range and the few scattered vehicle mounted shots do absolutely no damage to the space marines.

The Betrayed Thousand Sons Space Marine Commander Vorack the Grim decides not to waste any time and springs his force into acction! The Dreadnought climbs the hill to get a clear side armor shot into the Lord Inquisitor's Chimera. The Land Raider repositions to fire all weapons into the approaching GK Razorback. On the other side of the board the Assault Cannon Razorback advances forward while hugging the ruin.

Through nightfight, luck and the protection of the Emperor the GK vehicles survive with minor damage except for the razorback on the far flank. This gives the SM first blood and two Purifiers die in the explosion!

To make matters worse, the Thunderfire Cannon sets its sights on the remaining Purifiers and wipes out the squad, including the Thunderhammer that was all the way in the back!!

    Turn 2
    Spoiler:

Only 1 squad on Inquisition Troops arrives from reserve and are sent to interfear with the immenent SM deepstrike (off camera). All remaining Chimeras and Razorbacks continue to advance. On the near flank a squad of purifiers dissembarks and prepares to fire a couple of stormbolters at the Dreadnought rear armor, but the Malleus Inquisitor Chimera Passengers (x1 Heavy Psycannon, x4 Assault Psycannon Shots, all twin linked) wrecks it before they have a chance to do so. On the far flank, two Chimeras full of psycannons destroy a singe las-plas razorback and absolutely nothing else.

The SM TH/SH Terminators arrive from reserve and make a very risky but successful deepstrike right onto the GK Secondary Objective! The 3 Melta Bomb Warrior Acolytes and the Crusader, Psyker and Bolter squad are faced with the horrible realization that they will most likely die! In other news, even with the warlord re-roll the SM Stormtalon Gunship does not show up.

The empty SM Land Raider moves a respectful distance away from the GK Thunderhammer and kills 2 Knights while they have its attention.

On the far flank the SM Marines and the Power Armor Librarian disembark, but miss with their melta. The Predator and the Assault cannon put the Lord Inquisitor's Chimera to rest and the Thunderfire cannon uses it's Tremor shot to reduce movement through terrain by 1 die (a clever manuver). The third chimera is shaken, greatly reducing it's firepower potential!

    Turn 3
    Spoiler:

Grey Knight Forces continue to advance forward and new enter the SM Deployment Zone!

In the GK deployment zone things are really heating up: the remaining two Inquisition troop squads come in (1 in the middle, 1 in the far corner off screen). The Malleus Inquisitor and his psycanon Purifiers move back full speed and use Presciensce to twin link their weapons. The entire inquisition force empties all weapons into the Terminators, doing absolutely NOTHING!

Meanwhile back in the SM Deployment zone, the Chimeras continue rushing forward (front one is empty) while the psycannons target the Tactical Marines. [Note: Vorack the Grim does something very interesting here: the space marine tactical squad and librarian go to ground next to an objective that has +1 to cover saves while in a ruin, giving them a 2+ cover save, then if he takes casualties he can choose to brake, but use his auto-rally to get back into position, unfortunately he rows 4 ones in his mix of saves]. I fail to damage the Assault Cannon Razorback. In assault the Thunderhammer Purifier connects with the Land Raider but does no significant damage (1 glancing hit).

SM Turn 3: Terminators move forward for their first kill while the SM Librarian Warlord decides to be efficient and kill the Crusader, x2 Plasma Gun Acolytes in the corner.

Gunship arrives for the SM! The librarian and single remaining tactical marine fail morale from the previous turn of shooting but with their 3+6 inch movement for being marines get back into the Assault Cannon Razorback. Predator positions to have the best possible shot between the two ruins.

Combines SM shooting leaves the GK Purifier Squad on the near flank down to a single halberd, the Lord Inquisitor squad looses 3 psycannons while the second chimera explodes and 2 more purifiers go down with the ship. [/img]

The TH/SH Terminators attempt to multi-charge the first two inquisition squads but roll double 1's and only make it to the melta bomb squad, which they flatten with the ground, and then consolidate behind the nearest monolith block! The SM Librarian Warlord in Terminator armor with a Power Axe and Storm Shield charges the Crusader, x2 Acolytes with Plasmaguns who fail to wound him in overwatch.

Despite all expectation the Cursader and Plasmagun Acolytes not only hold their ground against the Librarian but the crusader uses it's no where to be seen on the model power axe and wounds the Librarian (hilarity ensues)!

    Turn 4
    Spoiler:

The Inquisition Troops are in full retreat, attempting to put some distance between them and the Terminators! The Malleus Inquisitor Chimera can see only 2 Terminators, but even if it moved it wouldn't be able to see more than 3. The chimera goes into siege mode and 20 S7 Rending Psychicly twin-linked shots vaporize the two termies that are in line of sight (total overkill). Terminators fail morale and move back 10, but will be back and with an extra 3 inches of movement because of it.

On the other side of the battlefield the Dreadknight finally decides to grace the field with its presence, scattering only a hair and 1 inch away from the Assault Cannon Razorback (which I have been shooting at since turn 1 mind you)! Razorbacks continue moving forward, unable to tank shock the SM troops as their are on a second level on the hill. The last Purifier squad disembarks and hugs the wall of the same hill. On the right side, the Lord Inquisitor remembers he has a Thunderhammer and leaves the protection of the ruin to try and go into assault with the blasted Assault Cannon Razorback.

Combined fire from Razorbacks and Psycannons brings down the Stormtalon Gunship, but the Assault Cannon Razorback remains standing, saving more than 7+ galancing and penetrating hits with the help of the ruin and the Lord Inquisitor fails to get into assault with the vehicle! Dreadknight runs.

In combat the Crusader kills the SM Warlord.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SM Land raider turns and prepares to kill more Purifiers. The Techmarine jumps over his Thunderfire cannon and prepares to use his flamer and plasma cutter on the approaching halberd wielders.

SM Terminators regroup and come about for a second sortie into inquisition lines. (continue to ignore the guys on the building, they are in the Chimera)

Space Marine shooting reduces the 5 man Purifier squad to a single Thunderhammer and the Dreadknight takes at least 1 wound.

The SM Terminators get into assault with the x3 Bolter Acolytes, stomping them out of existence but fail to roll high enough of a consolidation roll to make it behind line of sight terrain!

    Turn 5
    Spoiler:

Emboldened by the death of the SM Warlord at the hands of a Crusader, the GK army goes on a rampage: the lone Thunderhammer Purifier abandons his primary task of dislodging the enemy troop choice from the hill and goes to have his revenge on the SM Land Raider! The single lone Purifier from the other squad is tasked with taking the hill, by himself. The Lord Inquisitor has a personal vendetta against the Assault Cannon Razorback (right behind the ruin) and goes to chase it down while the remaining three psycannon purifiers in the middle take a shot at the Twin-las predator, shaking it.

The Malleus Chimera goes into siego mode for the second time and fires a second 20 psycannon shot volley into the 3 remaining terminators, 1 terminator almost survivng but failing to save it's very last wound!

Lord Inquisitor Coteaz fails his charge on the Razorback, but the lone Halberd, lone Thunder Hammer and the Dreadknight (who is lonely by default) all make their assaults. The Dreadknight kills 2 marines that then try to flee so he can be shot next turn, but he catches them and stays lock in combat. The TH does minor damage to the LR while the lone halberd kills 4 out out of the 5 space marines...

...but the last Space Marine, whom I personally think couldn't possibly have a Lascannon and a close combat weapon goes to prove me wrong and kills the heroic halberdist!

Bottom of Turn 5! End Game Play:
The Victorious Lascanon Space Marine runs down the hill to grab the forward Primary Objective. The Land Raider tank shocks the lone Thunderhammer and gets into firing position.

Remember the SM Librarian and the last remaining Space Marine of that squad? The Assault Cannon Razorback moves forward and they disembark in an attempt to clear the GK objective contesters and claim another Primary Objective for the SM Forces!

The Assault Cannon Razorback lands a rending shot on the Lord Inquisitor, who has no invul save, is out of terrain, fails his "look out sir" and promptly dies! Remaining SM firepower (as much as it is) clears the remaining GK units (as much as they are) off the Objective! The Razorback getting into tank shock range of the rear most objective explodes as well. The Dreadknight finishes off the Space Marine on the hill and consolidates towards the 5 man squad in the far corner.

The SM forces have 2 one man troop choices holding one objective each, and 5 men holding the objective in the corner for a total of 3 Primary objectives, the Inquisition have only 2 primary objectives. If the game ends now the SM would win, but it continues!

    Turn 6
    Spoiler:

The razorback maws down the lone space marine holding the near objective. The two remaining psy cannons stay stationary and try to clear the right objective but are only able to kill the Librarian with the single space marine surviving once again. The solo thunderhammer finally takes down the Land Raider (of no actual consequence to the game). Dreadknight makes it into combat with the marines holding the rear objective and kills 2. In a brilliant maneuver, my opponent fails his morale check on purpose (I fail to catch) so he can use whatever remaining firepower he has to shoot down the monstrous vehicle! DK consolidates onto the objective, trying to be as obstructive as possible.

The "broken" space marines return with a 9 inch movement and prepare to blast the DK into oblivion!

The solo tactical marine (solotac, solomar, soltacmar?) goes and claims his objective, the cursed Assault Cannon Razorback then turns around to block any line of sight to him.

The Space Marine Melta and the Tech Marine Plasma Cutter bring down the Dreadknight and the marines are close enough to reclaim their objective! Game Ends!

    Final Result:
Primary Objectives: SM 2, GK 2
With SM: First Blood, Slay the Warlord, GK: Slay the Warlord and Linebreaker

    !TIE GAME!

Secondary objectives: SM 0, GK 1

    Most outrageous dice:
Crusader killing a Terminator Stormshielded Libarian in two player turns of combat!

    Most outrageous strategic play:
Turn 6 a lonely Inquisition Chimera with no damage to it what so ever and 20 twin-linked psy-cannons sits lonely in the middle of the field with no shots to anything!

Thank you for reading, comment at will and have a happy holiday season!!!

lol very funny. I havn't ever really had any luck with my crusaders but this gives me hope to get them into CC one of these days hahahaha.

Did the Daemonhosts do anything all game? I didn't see them even get mentioned much but see them hiding in some corner I'm guessing?

+ Thought of the day + Not even in death does duty end.

In this game the Daemonhosts fired a single S8 Volley at the Terminators, other than that they held their objective. In other games, however, they have done a lot more. The S8 and the AP3 blasts can be brutal and I have used on numerous occasion, while the invul save lets me roll a die or two to try to save them, feel no pain roll and the possible I10 Fleet has also come in handy once. Overall, however, the unit is not very good and I would never recommend it for a purely competitive list.

On your crusader comment, I believe that sisters of battle have a special commander that really upgrades the crusaders and assassins in combat, so it is a very viable alternative to people who want to field crusaders/inquisition!

    Nice report!

Even though they are expensive I feel like LR's are not getting enough play in 6th for how good they are....and tough to take down!
