I took a break from the Hobby mid way through doing my wood elves. I don't use my woodelves as I don't play a lot of fantasy and have other things to play with. I haven't finished my wood elves and they are not popular so no one will buy them. I do like some of the miniatures still I suppose but since they were done about 6 years ago my painting has improved quite a bit and I find that they are not as attractive as they once were.

Does anyone else face this dilemma - how do you go back to the older unpainted stuff? Should I strip the current stuff or paint over it?

I include multiple 'editions' of my painting style in my army. I'll occasionally touch up the oldest ones (fix lines, highlight, drybrush, whatever), but mostly leave them alone.

Only in the case of the most horrible paint jobs do I strip and repaint.

I was in the same boat as you with my older Tau army, I just repainted a few of the models I liked the best since I was getting Dark Vengeance for Christmas.

If you don't want to re paint them all again, they're probably going to bring back some good memories just by looking at them again so keep them safe.

Yep. Strip and repaint is what I've done.

Again, same boat. Painted my Nids Hive Fleet Leviathan, but that didn't keep my attention for long. Lemme tell ya how tough it is to strip Quick Shade...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Yep, strip and repaint is the way that i've gone about it aswell.

Those few, poor.. poor brave eldar who took multiple baths in simple green.. atleast they smelled decent for a long time..

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!
