I'm helping my step son with a Necron build. I'm trying to motivate him with better games. He (and I) need help with his lists. My painting desk is full and I doubt we will buy any more models for a while. What size game (points) would these models be appropriate. Do you have any suggestions? I'm his main opponent (Orks, Salamanders, and to a lesser extent Tau)

His Models:

HQ:
1x Overlord
1x Imotek Stormlord
1x Lord

Troops:
40x Necron Warriors
1x Ghost Arc (magnetized for Doomsday Arc conversion)
1x Night Scythe (magnetized)

Elite:
3x Wraiths
1x C'Tan Shard

Fast Attack:
3x Destroyer
10x Scarabs

Heavy Support:
1x Monolith

This is the most powerful list i can think of for what models you have in a 1250 point game:

overlord, warscythe, mind shackles, phase shifter

lord, warscythe, mind shackles

4 groups of 10 warriors

2 groups of 5 scarabs

doom scythe

doomsday ark

Total comes out to 1240

I couldn't run the rest of your models because there is not enough here to support them (and have this list do well).

Hmm,
no Crypteks
no Immortals
no Deathmarks
no Spyders
no Annihilation Barge(s)
not enough Wraiths to be effective
only one Nightscythe
...
this is not going to be an easy list to work with.

Can he proxy things?
If so, he might have a slightly better chance.

Seems like a very decent place to start.
I'd attempt to add at least 1 more scythe, 3 more wraiths, and a destroyer Lord before attempting to play pick-up games. That being said, you sound like a pretty good Stepdad!

If I may ask, how old is your step-son?
For a larger game, you can always lend him some of your orks as allies. That will certainly bolster his army where it is weak... in assault and troops.
