Ok, So I want to paint a Iron warriors theme, but im not sure what paints to use. I tried using shining gold, but it doesnt seem right.

Any ideas?

When i was painting my Iron Warriors i strayed away from the cation tape and shining gold theme. I went for a simple paint job using Bolt gun metal and tin bits highlighted with brazen brass for the trim work. Im not sure of the new line of paints and how or if these convert but im sure you can figure out what the new equivalents are if any. Hope this helps.

I've painted my Iron Warriors by using Leadbelcher washed down with Agrax Earthshade. Then I use the Army Painter Warpaints Greedy Gold for their trim (I experimented a lot with many different types of gold and this is the one I liked the most, it went on fairly smooth and I didn't have to combine paints to get the effect I wanted). I only use hazard stripes on chainswords, bolters, bolt pistols and other such things.

Dude! Your Iron Warriors are AMAZING!

The beautiful simplicity of Leadbelcher + Agrax Earthshade!

Btw, good choice on the gold paints... I believe GW's Balthazzar Gold is too dark to achieve this bright gold effect (more rusty copper than anything else). Am I right?

Another question if I may:

How did you achieve the base for Picture #1? I'm loving it!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Thank you. Balthazzar Gold is too dark, I had to do a base of it then a layer of Auric Armor Gold to achieve the same effect as the Army Painter Greedy Gold. It was cheaper and more efficient to paint it with the Greedy Gold in the long run.
For the base I used Dark Art Studios urban bases, I did not base that one myself. http://www.darkartminiatures.com/category-s/1815.htm

*cough* passive aggressive *cough* Replying with LMGTFY isn't very helpful. There aren't places that explain very well how to paint Iron Warriors and many things. That is what this forum is for. So we can all get together and support each other with our own experience without having to go to google.

The VERY FIRST RESULT on that LMGTFY result is Girl Painting's excellent 26 minute long video on painting Iron Warriors.

I think that it's an excellent response to the OP.

I think that it's an excellent response to the OP.

However, it doesn't promote the kind of atmosphere of helping, LMGTFY is a pretty passive aggressive site and makes newbies to dakka dakka not want to post. Sometimes people feel more comfortable hearing suggestions from other people. But that's my opinion, and I'm not trying to offend, but plead with people not to do that. If you have a good suggestion, why not just post it instead of using a website like that?
