So, can you make a frost lance ?
The codex only refers to frost blades and axes, but is it possible ? The RAW states that frost axes/blades are power weapons. Following that logic I could make them frost blade lances.
I read the FAQ and cant find anything about it.

This may seem a bit beardy, but why not ? Why would it be limited to axes and swords ?


I am making count as thunderwolf cav, and I wanted to model them with lances. And S7 on charge with normal Inniative woule be really nice.

if *you* think its beardy/cheesy/whatever, than it probably is. answer me this what would you say if someone pulled this on you in a game?

Well I wouldn't mind tbh, which is why I asked.
I'm not trying to find some game breaking rule, it's mainly trying to bring out the fluff of the chapter onto the field.

The FAQ clarifies, as I understand, that they can only be swords or axes, if it didn't then they still couldn't be lances because they would default to the sword profile (with an additional strength bonus) as "Unusual Power Weapons"

Frost blades have a very specific profile in the FAQ and frost axes have also a very specific profile.

While I would never mind someone modelling lances and calling them frost blades for the s6 ap3 attacks there is no rules support for creating a lance as per the power weapon rules.

This is wrong btw. Read the 2nd page of the faq iirc.

You can't even take frost weapons on TWC iirc.

I thought it was just th/pf/pw with frost weapons being available for HQ on a TWM only. I am out of country so just going off memory right now.

You could always what I did before 6th came out. I had taken a Grey Knight Nemesis Force Lance and gave it to one my Thunderlords and just called it Frost Blade. Now I am using it at a Power Lance and I gave him a Frost Axe and say it can be used both ways. I am planning on adding an axe to the model just so it’s WYSIWYG.
