So I have 30 points more to spend. I am not sure if I should add 3 gun drones to my stealth suits, 3 firewarriors to make 3 groups of 11 or possibly 1 gundrone and 2 firewarriors go make one group of 12. I could also get two extra shield drones for my crisis suits to make them really defensive.

Also I am thinking of adding eldar for allies and was wondering what a good 500ptish eldar ally list would be.

I'd upgrade at least 2 of those fire warrior units with a team leader to get the bonus leadership. It helps alot for me anyway. Also lets you have a 3 point black sun filter too so that fire warriors can engage from the get go without penalties

I'm not a big fan of the stealth suits but the times I do run them, I like to keep them to themselves and not bother much with drones since you test for leadership so easily with just taking a few casualties and gun dron BS is pretty bad.
Personally I'd drop the points for them and get an eldar ally. I never leave home without mine anymore.

Currently I run a farseer with spirit stones, runes of warding and if I got 10 points to spare, I might consider a runes of witnessing
My obligatory troops is a squad of 5 dire avengers that I use to hold down an objective or something. They are pretty boss since their base ldr is 9 and don't have you wasting too many points elsewhere. If I'd have to take up to 500 points, I'd get a wraithlord with lances to snipe at things and just to have a T8, Str 10 mc guarding my lines against CC's. He's got to stay close to the farseer so I give him heavy long range weapons. Alternatively, something like a fire prism with holo-fields is quite good as well but they tend to die kind of fast now a days.

I attach my commander as well as the farseer to my fire warriors to keep them from running away when shot at since I tend to hug the board edge, failing morale = death in most cases. You can save youself the points for a sarge upgrade for those 2 units if you do attach guys to them.

I tend to like my Tau commander to be rather cheap now a days too and I've replaced my shield drones with just more fire warriors as "ablative" wounds. I like iridium armor but I tend not to use it much anymore and just keep the HQ in with his fire warrior "bodyguards/ human shields" . More guys = more guns= better chance to wipe things. Ablative fire warrior wounds tend to do better than a 4+ invul save shield drone as I'm in cover most of the time anyway. If you are in template/flamer range, you are doing something very wrong with your target priorities.

Personal choice but I usually get the air burst frag launcher for my HQ just cause I like blast templates to scare things like hordes of fast termigaunts/hormogaunts as well as orks that want to charge me. My loadouts now a days is just with air burst frag, missles. and maybe burst cannon just to get more shots. I don't twin link as I get divination powers if I really need it but can twin link the missles if you like and just ditch the burst cannon.

Honestly I end up using eldar divinations alot on my hammerheads. Twin linked rail shots = win!

I would drop the pathfinders and take 2 tetra. They have a heavy 4 marker light each and will save you almost 80 points.

I agree on cheapening the HQ. He just doesnt do as much as he used too and fire warrors are awesome in 6th. Moving and firing at full effect with s5 rifles are amazing. Can even glance most transports to death with them.

I field 40-50 in most lists and sometimes put a unit or 2 in transports to help move to objectives.

Whats your antiflyer plan?

I don't really have a plan for lots of flyers. If there are a couple the missile pods help. Maybe I can get one more xv8 and make a squad of two deathrains.

I think an Aline with a quad is good too. You can put the fire warriors behind the line for a cover save and one can man the quad. Also I like to have my suits jump over the line, fire, and then jump back for cover.

I don't like the A line because it is not tau. I am hoping and praying that we get a fortification that looks tau like.

I hope each faction does too! Could always make your own? I have seen several "tau" a lines. Just google it.
