I have been playing Ork's for about 3 year now and think its about time to get some super heavys for an apoc games. What are the most effective ork apoc units in 6th? I was thinking about going with a good old stompa but would hate to spend the $100 just to be disappoint in its performance wishing I for a Battle Fortresses instead.

Can't comment on most other ork super-heavies but your run of the mill stompas are really overpriced for what they do. 4 Structure points and no void/power shields means a single penetrating hit could be game over. Though that's true of any super-heavy without shields, for the points stompas are supposed to be competing with scout titans and the like which they simply cannot.
Now some of the datasheets that have mekboy stompas are a bit better becuase at least they have power fields. Ultimately, if you go stompas you'll want to bring 2-3 in an apoc game because they blow up far easier than you'd think. I'll let other comment on better superheavy options though (I think the squigoths are supposed to be pretty nasty).

I've not seen it used or seen the datasheet but the squigoth just looks amazing. You cant bring that to the table and not intimidate your opponent

Gargants. Just go straight to the big ticket, mother of all dakka boat s item. Build yourself a gargant of some sort, and laugh as your foes attempt in vain to survive the onslaught

Skullhammas are pretty cool on paper anyways. I built one, but have yet to use it. Im pretty sure if positioned right, it can be worth that 400+pt price tag.

I was thinking that if I get a baneblade I could model it in such a way that it would be usable with both Ork's and IG.

You could always make the Orky magnetized. Then it would just pop right off, no worries

Lifta-Droppas are insane right now. With the new glancing rules, you basically pick a vehicle within 48" and on a 3+ like 95% of vehicles in the game are wrecked.
I think you get the best bang for your buck with the Kustom Stompa data sheet. For the same price of a Warhound, you can get at least 7 weapons on one Stompa compared to the Warhounds 2.
If you magnetize the arms/shoulders/ head you can load it out however you want to fit the points available.

Again, Ive never played APOC, but Ive heard nothing but awesome from the lifta droppa. And read some hilarious battle reports where those things had gone and tossed tanks all over their owners
