Alright so I came across this beauty of a tank when I was going through the 40k wiki and thought that it would be cool if IG players could field this tank. Now I know people have posted on this tank before, but i want to bring some fresh ideas to the table.

So here a my thoughts.

Heavy Support

Ragnarok Mark 2 175pts

BS 3 F14 S13 R11 HP4

Wargear
Ragnarok battle cannon S9 AP 2 Range 48" ordnance 1, large blast
Heavy Bolter sponsons
Front mounted Heavy Bolter
sreachlight

Special Rules
Unexpected benfits- dispite the fact that the Ragnarok was designed and pressed into service at an unheard of speed it has proven itself to be a very durable and reliable tank. It is also very hard to kill surviving or bouncing off shoots that would would have destroyed any other vehicle of its class. The Ragnarok Mark 2 gets a 5+ invulnerable save.

Imperial vehicle wieght class: heavy- The Ragnarok Mark 2 is classifed as heavy vehicle as such it can fire all its weapons at full Ballistic skill even if it has fired a ordnance weapon.

Veteran crew- Due to the fact that the Ragnarok Mark 2 is not yet widely distributived the few IG regiments that do possess them have them crewed by veteran tank crews. This increases the Ragnarok Mark 2 BS by 1 to a total of BS 4.

Options
May replace its Ragnarok battle cannon with one of the following.

Ragnarok Hunter cannon Range 72" S8 AP 2 has the armorbane special rule- free
Ragnarok Demolisher cannon Range 36" S10 AP 2 25pts
Ragnarok Heavy Mortar cannon Range 48" S7 AP 3 ingores cover 25pts

May replace its Heavy Bolter Sponsons with one of the following.

Heavy Flamer free
Multi-meltas 30pts
Plasma cannons 40pts

May replace its front mounted Heavy Bolter with one of the following.

heavy flamer free
lascannon 15pts

May also take.

Heavy stubber 10pts
Hunter killer missile 10pts
Dozer blade 10pts
Extra armor 15pts
Veteran crew 15pts
Camo netting 20pts

The Ragnarok Mark 2 is a redesign of the original Ragnarok produced by the Adeptus Mechanicus in the late 41 millenium

Ok so some of the ideas like the Unexpected benfits rule came from the fact that it reminded me of a KV 2 which when first introduced in WW2 it was a very hard to kill tank. The next one Imperial wieght class was just bringing back the Lumbering Behemoth rule and Vet crews because I like the idea of having vet tanks (an option which I wish the IG could take now).

I realy like this tank and this is just an idea on how it would run.

P.S. Not sure on the base points with the 6 ed rule book and the fact that I feel some of the Leman Russ varients are over priced now (that just my thoughts though) I would like to read your thoughts on the matter.

That is super frigging OP. An earthshaker with less range (still a large range), heavy bolters and leman russ armor? Plus an invuln save (which could be a good idea if you can think of some good fluff to support it), plus being able to fire all of its guns? That is really damn good. Two main problems, one the points for how good it is, two the fact that it is basically just a pimped out leman russ. Good idea and great model (aside from the fact that that turret is just begging for AT fire). I don't have any suggestions, but what you should do is basically make a whole new tank that adds something to the IG arsenal. Something completely different from both russes and chimeras.

Wow....yep this thing is a monster! It's really too good. Needs a bit of a downside. I will have to think something up, too late right now for me to think.

I do like the Vet Tanks thing though. That's an interesting concept.

However, as this stands, it's a Leman Russ with an invul (which, can be cool if you find a actual fluff point for it. Maybe some sort of shielding?), a really strong cannon, and the ability to shoot everything it has at possibly BS4. All for 175 points. Nope. Either price it up a bit more, or add something to make it...I don't know...sound more like a rushed prototype idea (like, add the invul but make it prone to breaking down)

OR, like ATSKNF said above, something that's NOT on a LR or Chimera chassis or design would be kinda nice to see hahahaha

The base point is low so how about 195 for base points. The idea behind it is that it is a Death Korps of Krieg tank redesigned by the Adeptus Mechanicus so most of the main guns are heavy artillery pieces mounted on a turret. Also the tank was not meant for long range fights and to keep with that most of its guns are short range, but have enough range that you don't have to get to close. Though I do have a varrient that the Adeptus Mechanicus made for tank battles the Ragnarok Hunter cannon. The idea behind the invuln save was the KV2 which was a Russian tank during WW2 which at least early in the war was pertty darn hard to kill. As for the fluff working on it, though any ideas toward the matter would be great.

Also while I'm thinking about it I will take away one HP to.

Here it is as of now

Ragnarok Mark 2 195pts

I like the idea of it being prone to breaking down i will have to work with it some more. I know how about this the Adeptus Mechanicus found a piece of a STC with a shield for vehicle the size of a main battle tank and put a prototype in the Ragnarok Mark 2, but due to its instability it can if overloaded wreck the tank's systems. So here is the idea "protoype shielding- the Ragnarok has a 5+ invuln, but for every time it makes its save it has to role for overload on a role of 2+ nothing happens, but if it roles a one the hit counts as a glancing hit and it suffers a crew stunned result.

Also here is a pick of the original Ragnarok and it has its own chassis.

OK, now im starting to like the sound of it. The fact the shield now has Gets Hot! too pretty much is cool as well. Adds a bit of a "I really don't know if this is gonna work" feeling to it.

I like the new price tag as well, 195 for what the LRBT used to be, with a better gun and an invul sounds good. You may actually want to bump it down to 190 though, just to keep it on par with the Executioner. Make them the two "Big Gun" tanks. And while before I made the comment about a new idea not on a Russ or Chimera body, im starting to like the idea of a mobile arty piece counting as a battle tank idea. It feels so Death Korps haha

Also, is it just me or does the original Ragnarok you posted look like it has Autocannon turrets on it, not HB's? That would be an interesting upgrade, AC sponsons. Although, don't make it standard. Don't want to make it too strong hahaha

Ok taking the base points to 190pts and it may replace its heavy bolters with AC for 20pts
