Subject: 1500 Orcs and Goblins

Hey everyone. So this list is not going to ass up to 1500 right off the bat. I have not played my orcs and goblins since 7th ed. I know 8th is a whole new ball game and am trying to get a feel for how the green horde should be played. I welcome all comments and suggestions. This list is RADICALLY different from what I used to play.

Good list. You might want a cavalry unit of some sort. Would help threaten flanks and maybe get in the backfield against enemy warmachines and other support.

In terms of managing calvary at this points cost, would it be worth taking boar boyz? Or should I try to find use in wolf/spider riders?

I think you need some hard hitters. Your BO might and your Fantatics are really iffy. But you got a ton of cheap war machines, trolls, squigs. If the enemy is heavy ranged or war machined, you will get chewed up. If they have some very elite monster-type units, you will have a tough time with them.

Some Cavalry would be a good addition. i reccomend Savage Orc Boar Boyz over standard Boar Boyz.
give them spear and shield- gives them a 4+ armour Save and a 6+ ward due to war paint, Frenzy mixed with spear and choppa rules means each model has 3 Str5 attacks on the charge including the boar.
i run a unit of 15 with a Big Boos on Boar with sword of +2 attacks. deployed 8 wide the unit pumps out 37 attacks from cavalry for for roughly the same cost as 4 mournfang. i think they are awesome.

All good advice. Savage Boyz are a critical unit for Orcs (unfortunately for normal boyz, the models of which I like better).
If you want to go on the cheap, I have heard it said that Wolf Riders are some of the best Light to Medium Cav in the game. Spider Riders are also good because they are light cav and can go through woods no problem. However, they will not perform well against enemy cav or some support (dwarf quarrelers or handgunners)

If you want Heavy cavalry, Savage Orc Boar Boyz is the name of the game lately, rather than normal boyz. Light cavalry, you can choose between the much faster wolf riders or the slightly more maneuverable Spiders. It would also be best if you removed some Night Goblins and add Boyz or Savage Boyz. A couple of shooty things won't hurt either... Spear Chukkas are a steal!
