Raiding the settlements of an inferior race

Hey guys. My Dark Elf army is fairly large now and I want to take it to 2400 points which I understand is the highest amount of points people commonly play. Here's the list I plan on running - I think it's fairly good but would still like tips. Also I'd appreciate it if as well as saying what needs to be improved you could leave a little note saying how good it is anyway. I may choose to neglect some feedback if it will only make it a little bit better as I'm short on money see. All comments and improvements appreciated though. Anyway!

Looks solid while still avoiding the nastier combos that can make DE armies over-the-top sometimes. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a game, and while they won't be walkovers for you, you should have a good chance of winning most games.

Hooray! A comment! Thank you Vulcan!

Good to hear the list is good but I was wondering what falls thought of that unit of 5 cold ones I have? I was told yesterday that you should run cold ones in a unit of 10 with master or not at all but I thought they would make a nice flanking unit in conjunction with the spearmen

5 with a muso can flank well or charge in buffed by the caulsron and dish out 10 S6 attacks and 5 S4. And not take many in return. The cold one fun bus, consists of 8 knights, BSB with ss much mundane gear as he can get on a cold one and the hydra banner. I like to take a a combatAHW lord with the potuon of strength and a combat master with potion of foolhardiness to add to their damage output and keep my BSB safe. But it makes a costly unit even more costly.

5 Cold One Knights are a maneuver control unit writ large. They will smash right through enemy maneuver control units (like fast cav and scouts) to free up your combat blocks to hit the target you WANT to hit, not the tarpit he wants to divert you into.

They can live without the standard though. It really doesn't add much to such a small unit.

When you put it like that, even 5 of them sound pretty deadly. But yes, I get your point I didn't want to make them expensive 5 seems ok.

Wow, didn't think of using them like that. Sounds lieka good tactic and it will help with my frenzied corsairs.

I will consider dropping the standard then and getting more crossbows!

I like this list. Nicely balanced without gimping yourself out of being competitive. It's refreshing to see DE lists without 2 hydra.

I too really like this list, and it's very similar to my own. Very similar, I run an almost identical list though I alternate between more crossbows, less spearmen, more or less CoKs and an extra Hydra. I can tell this will work well.

Like Vulcan said, you can use the Cold One Knights to get rid of other redirectors. Alternatively, you can use them to try and get a flank charge in on some heavily armoured unit that's bogged down by one of your hordes. I'd recommend keeping them close to your Spearmen. Alternatively, you can use them to guard your Crossbow units where I presume your Mages will be bunkered. At the very least you can counter charge.
