I like the idea of a looted wagon and I am thinking of getting one but because there is not a model for it from games workshop so I was wondering what other tank would work well as a looted wagon.

Thats one of the cool things about the looted wagon.
You can use whatever you feel like.
Rhino with a turret on top, A leman russ, Vindicator, Hammerhead.
Just ork it up and anything will work.

I have a Leman Russ and a Basilisk as looted tanks. And I know one guy who made one with a Hammerhead and also has one made out of necron monolith.
The rules for them aren't that great, low armour and don't press dat. Amazing fun for modeling though

Looted means Stolen
A Looted wagon is a tank from another army that the orks stole and made their own.
The official model IS any tank from any other army with some orks in it.

If its got a Boomgun, a LRBT, a Vindicator, or even a Fire prisim would be what you are looking for.
If it doesn't have a Boomgun, a Rhino, Chimera(Multi-laser replaced with a Big shoota or Rocket of course) or any other race's transport vehicle would be good.

The trukk kit has a bunch of extra bits if you dont put it all together. I took a majority of the trukk pieces and put them toward an IG Manticore for my looted wagon.

The stats of the vehicle are the same as those for a Rhino, so that's a good starting point. It's Orky, so do whatever the hell you want to make it look ramshackle and awesome. The whole point of the unit is that you're looting something else for your Orks, and a stock kit would kind of ruin that.

The trick is to make them as Ironic as possible. Stick a big massive boomgun on an all round AV10 speeder.
I turned a drop pod into a Looted Wagon Transport. Just remember, if you do this to compensate for the low AV values of the Trukk (both are the same price before any upgrades but you get 11 armour for the wagon)
You use up one of your Heavy support slots, so really it's worth taking more than 1 without a boomgun.
For the record I have 4 looted wagons:
The Dropod on wheels
A chaos Defiler being piloted by a mek instead of it's head
A Devilfish with the upper part of the Battlewagons kannon platform where the pilot would sit
A Rhino with a killkannon on the front.
I was thinking about a Dark Eldar skimmer...
