Tournament of 1500 points coming around every now and then, and I wanted to figure out a more competitive list than my preferred instinct of taking 3 PEs. It will be probably be my first time finishing an entire game with Sisters, so I do have minimal experience with them, but with some common sense and reckoning from ork/IG experience I was able to figure that this list should at least be presentable on the forums to hold some water as honourable.
Most of the SOB units are in the making, but it is pretty much all non-proxies if I can manage to finish modding the units up out of other models. (PEs are actually sentinel proxies, but close enough)
General Tactics:
Heavy Support Options from the SOB portion will sit back and let loose while the rest of the army advances. the SOB will form a vanguard with the veterans not too far behind, or in objectives, squatting. (Harker may infil next to midfield objectives to hold them til the reinforcements arrive.) All vehicles have dozerblades to take advantage of terrain and the cover saves gotten from it.
Any thoughts from Dakka Dakka?

Sponsons are worthless on the LRBT, as they can only snap fire if the main cannon shoots. Better to spend the points on special guns for the vets or something else.
|
The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Really?.....checking FAQ....aw, that sucks.... I enjoyed that rule. Really made the leman russ a battle tank, capable of taking on thrice its number (at least fluff wise).
Well that is a bummer, ok I am gonna rip the sponsons from my Leman Russ.
Fixed it in the list, replaced the bolters with powerswords.

I would consider taking the saint instead of jacobs, she is one of the best warlords in the game, specially at 115pts. IMO i think the Jacobs and death cults have kind of had it, dont get me wrong if they get into combat then they are horrible but if the rhino gets blown up and they are stuck in the middle of nowhere then they are useless and more than likely get shot to pieces.
Im not sure you need yarrick either, you could take a cheap CCS and vendetta for extra anti tank/air and also grave chute for either last minute line breaker or contesting.
I took this to a recent 1500 tournie.
Saint
Battle sister squad-2 Meltas, rhino (10 sisters)
Battle sister Squad- 2 meltas, rhino (10 Sisters)
Dominions-2 melta/2flamer, rhino (10Sisters)
Retributors-4 heavy bolters (9Sisters)
Exorcist-SB
Exorcist-SB
CCS-2melta/2flmaers (5 man unit)
Vet Squad- 3 Plasma, Chimera (10 Vets)
Vendetta
This worked really well for me. I guess it depends on what sort of lists you will be playing.

You list has 2 rets that need a faith point to be awesome. The sister squads don't really need a faith point first. So Jacobus isn't as viable as st Celestine since this list isn't a faith point heavy army.

Well, Yarrick is my only Imperial Guard HQ I have at the moment (Let the reader-cringing begin). Would Celestine be ok on her own? Sure she gets back up, but if she is put into the dirt every turn, then she is not going to be able to do much, while in the case of Jacobus(Whom is not being taken for faith points, but for his other assault rules). he is more beneficial to the army. I will try a playtest gafme or so at lower points with her, see the comparison and then go from there. Thanks for the input. The addition of the imperial guard was merely to jam in some more points, I have very limited SOB converted stuff (the exorcist is a whirlwind model), so I cannot field as an intense of the sister force as I would like. I have no HQ for the sisters so I chose JAcobus as he would be simple enough to convert out ofo some bits. Vendettas are a little pushing it as far as my resources, but I have a model airplane on a stand that I am building to be a dakkajet, but I may be able to use it as a imp flier. With the fliers, that would be a really col set-up though, having the imperial guard come in all via vendetta transports to be the cavalry and back-up the sisters of battle need when the going get tough. I can see it now, the beleagured troops watch as their allies fly in blast a few tanks and then unload their troops into the heart of the enemy. Is it possilbe for the sisters of battle to come in via Vendetta grav chute? They are battle brothers and can use eachother's transports, so does that mean they can come in from reserves with the flier as transport? Throwing the Battle Convlave in there with The HQs would eliminate the worry about losing the rhino due to fire. Only thing to worry about is if the unit scatters and they all die, but that is what deepstriking brings you on the off chance.

Jacobus does give some nice assault rules. But Celestine has so much more to offer. By herself she can deep strike and put some pressure on the enemy. If she dies, but gets back up she doesn't give slay the warlord. A lot of people run her to an objective and if she dies and pops up later in the match to contest it.

Ok, so Celestine is more of a long-term and bigger-picture character than the short-sighted Jacobus. Will definitely play-test soon.

That and 6 attacks on the charge, ws7, In7, heavy flamer, always wounds on 4+ blade ap3, and 2+ armor 4++ invuln. She really is too good for what points we pay. She has special rules in the faq that make sure even attacks that remove from play don't affect her like jotww. The downsides being S3 and T3 and no eternal warrior. But even with S6 instant killing her she revives on a 4+ on every turn. Not just the first one she died. Sorry for wall of text but she really is great

If you have points yes. Otherwise just try to avoid difficult terrain and fire blood rivers. The sizer blades Lets you re-roll a failed difficult terrain test. Which if you fail immobilizes you. Or in a river with fireblood result. Instant wrecked/destroyed.

I abused the reinforced rams for the orkz like crazy making ninja trukks. Why not take advatage of one of vehicles' fears? Use the obscurement and the surprise it brings togreat effect and allow you to get where you need pronto and reliably. After all, it takes double ones to immobilize your vehicle.

Difference being ork trucks can move up to 24" total in a turn. Rhino can move 18" max. It's a fun tactic. But with hull points and armor 11. It's an easy first blood giveaway.

Truck can move 12 first turn flat out, then move 12 being fast in the shooting phase. That's how I thought it worked

If your run celestine place her in the middle of your battle line. On turn one move her up 12" and then run her in the shooting phase directly towards your enemy. She is there to draw fire and/or wreck face. If your opponent does kill her she is already on his side of the board so when she gets back up she can immediately wreck face. If he ignores her like some people do then you have the run of the place. Take note she also has krak grenades and a S5 flamer.

I thought it was something like trukk moves 12" in movement phase and Flat-outs for that D6 or two movement in the shooting phase. Next turn, deploy 6" charge 2d6".
2 Turns: 20"-36" move or something.

BTW where did you find this? I am not entirely sure, but the FAQ says it follows Heavy Vehicle rules or some sort instead of the normal "Lumbering Behemoth" rule. I must confess that I know not much on the topic, because I sorta "share" the 6th edition rulebook with a friend. Costs too much for me to get, hence the sharing. Well, most armies range around 4 scoring units, so this is not too much different I think, but I did discover after deciding to check that my KP total is pretty high (14!). My idea of the scoring units is that the other models in the army will be causing enough havoc to make the scoring units go unnoticed. The flaw in this idea is that I have a very low number of units that are actually meant or prepared to charge at the enemy while waving their arms over their head, the Conclave with attached special characters... Despite the high number of Kill points, this army is quite compact due to only having 6 actual squads of anything where a third of them are long ranged support leading to only having 4 squads that will be doing anything.

Good. You want your opponent pouring a ridiculous amount of resources into shutting her down. It means the enemy has less to take down the rest of your army with.
