When the csm codex came out, I bought beautifully painted Ahriman on ebay, since I loved his new fluff. Sadly it's not very competitive and on the other hand, sorcerer is highly competitive...

How should I convert him into sorcerer? My friend says that I should replace his head and staff, which makes him Ahriman. I'm reluctant to ruin the model by chopping of his metal head or ruin the staff. Today I was thinking, maybe I could add something instead of chopping of something? Any suggestions on this? Or any other way around really

He's a sorcerer, just use him as a sorcerer...

Wait what? You think Ahriman isn't competetive but a sorceror is? Your very wrong man, its the other way around, however i cant see why you just can't use his model as a normal sorceror, its what it is after all.

Well, our usual TO thinks so. He has unique features that only Ahriman has, which I mentioned - his head and his staff. When I bought model, I originally thought to use him as Sorcerer and as Ahriman and now I'm a saaad panda... And on topic of competitiveness.. Lets not start it here

Thats fine, but yeah theres nothing that ahriman has that you can't simply say " Oh thats just a thousand sons sorceror, with a staff and bolt pistol." because thats what it is.

Yeah, he has a force weapon (unless Sorcerer says Force something specific in the codex) so no problem.
But your TO says you can't use him as just a sorcerer? There is no reason what so ever, if you aren't using Ahriman in your list, for you not to use Ahriman model as a Sorcerer, just like you could use Abaddon or Kharn as a Chaos Lord kitted out in the appropriate way. Yes its a specific model, but if you aren't using the rules for that model, and there is an appropriate unit/model in the codex who matches the wargear there should be no problem and anyone who says there is, is just being silly.

There is no real way to change him without ruining the model.
