Saturday, I particiipated in an RTT at the 1850 pt level with 16 players.

Three Necron armies (including mine) played for the win (places 1 to 3):
Tom had DLord, 15 Wraiths, Immortals, 2 Doom Sycthes, 3 Spiders.
Max had 2 DLords, 15 Wraiths, Immortals, 3 Night Scythes, 2 or 3 Annihilation Barges.
Me had DLord, 15 Wraiths, Immortals, Warriors, 4 Night Scythes, 3 Annihilation Barges.

An IG player became 4th with lots of infantry (10 men squads), 3 Vendettas with Veterans, ADL, and 3 Executioners.
In the pitched battle against him, he was going first and I was able to refuse one flank. My Wraiths approached his front ranks
along a flank and finally were able to kill half of his infantry and to pop one Executioner. The Vendettas destroyed two of my
Night Scythes. In return, two got popped and the other damaged. After round 5, he had 2 Executioners, 2x10 Soldiers, and the small
Command left, while the Necron army was largely intact.

The same player battled Space Wolves, an army with 7 Drop Pods (pic below). The infantry screened the Executioners so that
the drop podded Marines were not able to shoot down the tanks upon arrival. Four Grey Hunter packs incl. Nijal landing in front of the IG army
were quickly decimated. The Vendettas brought the Veterans in position so that they were able to contest the objective (capture
and control) in the SW backfield.

I've also seen two quite similar CSM armies played by Veterans. Lord on Juggernaut, 9 Obliterators, 2 or 3 times 5 Spawn, CSM
in Rhinos, Helldrake. Both armies ended up midfield in the final standing.

Thanks for the global report,

I'm curious about the CSM/Necrons matchup;
did it occur in the event ? or did the army manage to avoid each other ?

Focusing on CSM; the listed build has big flaws;
the spawns can indeed reach quickly ennemy lines, but that's it. They won't do much.
Only oblits, helldrake and jugger lord pack punch in such lists, but the oblits are so expensive that the list does not have much more....

Well, I remember that there was one match up between Necrons and CSM in the first round, with Necrons winning 20 to 0.

In view of the CSM lists you are right, 9 Oblits, 15 Spawn, and Lord are rather expensive. The rest should then be spent on troops.

what armies did you face? how did you do against them? necrons in the top 3 spots is rather lame though and shows how the game is going.

Well, I faced Blood Angels (Sanginary Guard led by Dante and the Sanguinor), Imperial Guard (lots of 10 men infantry squads, 3 Vendettas with Veterans, and 3 Executioners), and Death Guard (Typhus, Plague Marines, Zombies, Obliterators, Termies).
They all got owned by Necrons. In fact, Necrons owned everything else.
