Hey everybody! I have been playing rhinos and razorbacks for space wolves for a while now. and now, it seems to not be as effective as it once was. so now, iv decided i wanted to try a drop pod list and see how it goes. i got the idea for this type of list actually from someone on dakka! So here it is.

The main plan for this list if to have 5 grey hunter squads come in on turn one with one wolf guard in each. so in reserve, i will have 3 empty pods and one more grey hunter squad. The rune priests will be in the long fang squads and probably cast the power that allowes re-roll hits. i cannot remember which one that is. What do you guys think? Any and all advice is welcome!

I almost run the same lust but isn't a bit too much points 125 for all that drop pods

There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."Leman Russ

I think that they are almost needed. Because if i take out one pod then that means only 4 come in on turn one. and the more i can horde my enemy with the better. Thats my take on it anyway. But ya, i see what you mean. 125 is a lot of points for just storm bolters

I would take 5 pods and one GH will stay back and protect the LF

Personally I dont like the old "weather the storm" tactic. It basically means you have no plan.

Defintely an aline is needed. 2 hell drakes will kill your whole board. Long fangs are not reliable like they were now that flyers are involed.

I also think that the long fangs should be 3 missiles and 2 lascannons. AP 2 is too important this edition and not being able to pop tanks as easily with missiles really devalue them. I know its more points but it will help alot in the long run.

I also think you should take the power fists off the sgt and use regular power weapons, or a power axe. Still swing last, and AP 2 but less points.

On the same not you may not want all power fists/axes as you will die in challenges by people who swing before you.

You could use the extra points to kit the vets with melta bombs.

I agree in the LC

Yeah, I know it's more expensive, but the terminators get a power weapon for free. Model an axe instead of a sqord if you want higher strength. I think it's best to put the fists on regular Grey Hunters. It costs more & get''s one less attack, but it's on a model that cannot be challenged and will get to hit with it regularly. Add to that a power axe on the terminator and that squad can take on some high toughness opponents. 2 special CC weapons is the way to go on an aggressive army like this.

The hunters cant take 2 specials unless they are 10 strong and at that point they cant have the terminator join the unit.

I personally think paying the points for a 1 attack fist is bad but each player needs to play towards their meta and yours may be different than mine.

Better go for a power axe in the gh than a fist

I also like the idea of sticking a power wep/axe on a normal GH, but what should i take out for it? Or should i just not have it at all?

Long Fangs don't NEED an agis. I think they will do just fine in a ruin. plus, who says you cant drop the pods on yur half of the field? I know it sounds dumb, but sometimes hving no plan is good, because youre flexible. If it turns out you should be more defensive then fin, nothing blocks like 5 drop pods forming a wall and camping troops further back behind. Certainly your opponent will deploy defensively when he sees youve got 9 pods, thatl screw up his new plan and play yours just fine.

I dont see the point in having LF in pods, unless youre going to deploy them and drop empty pods to get in the way. in which case that 70 points can be better spent elsewhere. Say a 2nd landspeeder to take the other flank or support the first.

Ignore flyers as best you can, also sounds dumb, but they're loaded for anti tank more so than infantry, stay in terrain with what isnt going suicidal, and worry about killing the enemies OBJ holders and tanks first. Then kill the stupid birds. They can kill drop pods all they want, doesnt give them much.
