Some dusty place in Texas

Alright, I sat down and made a list from the codex today, how does this sound?


CSM 1500
HQ:
Sorcerer w/ 2 mastery levels, familiar, mark of Tzneetch, and sigil of corruption: 165
Troops:
8 CSM with plasma gun, cc weapons, champion w/ power fist and plasma pistol and vets of the long war: 191
8 CSM with plasma gun, cc weapons, champion with power weapon:166
20 cultists w/ stubber, flamer, and mark of nurgle with 9 auto guns: 149
Fast Attack:
5 raptors with 2 meltaguns, mark of khorne, vets of the long war, champion with 2 lightning claws: 170
5 raptors with 2 meltaguns, mark of khorne, vets of the long war, champion with power weapon: 155
Heavy support:
Forge fiend with 3 ectoplasma cannons: 200
Forge fiend with 3 ectoplasma cannons: 200
5 Havocs with 4 Autocannons and vets of the long war: 110

Total: 1501

What's ya'lls thoughts? What can be improved?

If you could, try to bump the csm to 10 men so you can get a second plasma gun instead of the plasma pistol.

Otherwise I would give the sorc a mark of nurgle so I can turn the csm to plague marines. (green yawn around neck if they are painted as regular marines) and get the 2nd plasmagun. Unless you really like the Tzeentch powers.

I like the raptors. I hope they pop open the transports and charge the bodies inside.

The forge fiends are intimidating. and you cant go wrong with the autocannon havocs.

Agree with Flich aboout bumping the CSM to 10 in each unit. Maybe drop some VOTLW upgrades and MON on the cultists to get the extra. Personally I prefer to have p.pistols in units so they can fire and charge and so I would opt for meltaguns over the plasma guns in the CSM units for the same reason; and replace bolter in one unit for bolt pistols to get the pistols for free.

The raptors are too tooled up. The MOK is wasted if you are going to deep strike or if you are going tank hunting with the meltaguns (tank hunters could do with a plasma pistol and melta bombs). If you are worried about other marines maybe go for the MoS on one of the raptors so you get to strike first even if you are receiving a charge.

What you are missing is some good anti-air and the ability to get your troops choices across the board and onto objectives. You may consider dropping a forgefiend for a hadescannon heldrake for the anti-air; and to pop transports/light tanks. This would give you enough points to get a rhino for CSM to give them a bit of mobility.

Overall it looks good for a first draft, just needs a bit of tweaking.

Isn't the Havoc squad 115 with 4 autocannons?
Personally I wouldn't go Stubber and Flamer in the cultist squad, just two stubbers.
And I also think your CSM squads are way too expensive for only 8 bodies. Raptors also seem a little on the costly side, but don't know how you could reduce the cost really.

Yeah, havoc is 115
I'm gonna take vets off all the units, and take the fist off the champion and the plasma pistol and replace it with a power weapon. Throw in two Rhinos for the squads. Turn the raptors into one squad and add a icon of wrath. Add hades Autocannons on the forge fiends to take care of flyers and get a bit of extra range on the guns. Thoughts?

I personally keep the raptor in 2 sqauds of 5 men. Then strip off all uprades except 2 melta guns.

Forge fiends have decent chance to shoot down fliers with their 8 hades autocannon shots. What was the hit percentage? That way you can still have your 2 ectoplasma head cannons.

Also, keep the cultist 20 men strong, but strip all upgrades as their only purposes is to cling to a home objective.

Downgrading your plasmaguns to meltaguns for your csm will free up 5pts each.
