So I've been thinking, can a race have an alliance with someone of the same race. For example, an ork army having ork allies.
I mean theres nothing saying that you can't do this, the matrix table even marked them as blood brothers. Of course they can't go into each other vehciles but meh right, you have +2 troop choices and +1 hq, heavy, fast and elite. That allows ur army to have 3 HQs, 8 Troops, 4 Fast, 4 Elite and 4 Heavy maximum.
I know this is really cutting the corner and going into that guy/powergamer territory since the allies table was suppose to pair 2 different races together to spice things up, but I was really curious if this could work.
As far as I checked theres nothing in the brb saying that I can't, so can i?

Yes I actually Ninja'd someone

On p.109 of the BRB it tells you that your allied detachment has to be a different codex to your primary detachment. So Orks can't ally with Orks.
Also, the allies matrix has a blank space for Orks paired with Orks. Orks have no blood brothers.

It is worth noting that if your gaming group includes forgeworld lists then you can ally them with what would be seen as their standard codex equivalent.

As an example Elysians are battle brothers with Guardsmen. And Ork Dread Mob lists are battle brothers with codex orks.
