Hi all,
Just curious if the Thousand Sons recruit new blood(neophytes) into their ranks or do they just resurrect rubicae to replenish their fighting force? And if they don't recruit new blood, how do they replenish their number of sorcerers who maintain control over the rubicae?

I can think of so many inappropriate jokes right now.
My guess is they are able to construct new suits of armor which the ashes magically retreat to in a similar fashion to how necrons are never destroyed, but just phase out.

In the series of books with Ragnar Blackmane his nemesis is a Thousand Sons sorceror who can re-emerge from the warp after he is killed.
It is kind of loose canon now that it seems that not all of the Thousand Sons merged with their armor after the Rubric of Ahriman.

Chill out. It's a weird area of fluff and with the series on Ragnar contradicting other sources. The version of the current state of the Thousand Sons from the Ragnar series explains how their numbers remain consistent whereas.

Well, in the book Battle of the Fang, where the Sons invade Fendris, it states that they drew up mostly mortal soldiers from hundreds of worlds and spend years and years gathering the scattered sorcerors from across the galaxy, and that every one of them were very valuable because they are so few, only a few hundred in the entire army. Sssoooo i'm guessing that that the sorcerors just cant be replaced, just like the marines.

Blessed are those, in the name of The Emperor and Holy Tera, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly Man's keeper and the finder of lost souls. And you will know I am the Emperor's Hand when I lay His vengeance upon you." |

"Chill out"? I think index astartes and codex material outweighs a children's book series from back when Black Library took even more liberties than they do today.

@Omegus that is dabetable, although Ragnar series were very early and perhaps look like childish, they are more consistent then any published material today...

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."
Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan

To my knowledge, the Thousand Sons don't replenish their numbers like most CSM do. They're just Rubric Marines and Sorcerers who were able to resist the Rubric of Ahriman.

They recruit perspective sorcerers from other warbands, just the orginal TS are 99% dead (not counting rubric marines who can be uploaded)...

Sorcerors are recruited like in other legions, they're mortal in that sense. Rubrics' numbers stay consistent as the fallen have their souls summoned and bound into new suits of armour. Their service is eternal.

In the Dawn of War series. Arhiman tries to recruit Rhamah when he gets sucked onto the Harlequin library planet. I would think that the rest of the Thousand Sons would recruit the same way.

Yeah, makes sense that the sorcerors are recruited and the rubric marines are 'reformated' if any of their armor becomes too destroyed to function. That said, nothing stopping them from performing a lesser version of the rubric on 'new recruits' so to speak, though there isn't any canon to support that.
