Had an idea for a Necron list the other day - I don't quite own enough barges to make a reasonable proxy list, but it seems like it would be pretty devastating to face.

Destroyer Lord: MSS, Orb, SW, Warscythe - 190 pts

Destroyer Lord: MSS, Orb, SW, Warscythe - 190 pts

20 x Warriors, Ghost Ark - 375 pts

20 x Warriors, Ghost Ark - 375 pts

5 x Warriors - 65 pts

5 x Warriors - 65 pts

5 x Warriors - 65 pts

5 x Warriors - 65 pts

5 x Warriors - 65 pts

6 x Annihilation Barge, Tesla Cannon - 540 pts

Tactics: Two large Warrior blobs would advance up the center reinforced by the two Ghost Arks. Destroyer Lords join Warrior blobs, bringing Preferred Enemy, counter-assault, Orbs, and 2+ saves to the party. Annihilation Barges cover the flanks, and are your anti-flier/MC. Small Warrior blobs take back- and mid-field obectives in the wake of your main force.

Thoughts: What this list lacks in killing power it makes up for in sheer durability. 20 man Warrior blobs with Orbs and Ghost Ark reinforcement aren't going to budge anytime soon. Large Warrior blobs have the volume of gauss to be all the AT you need against everything but a pure parking lot, and even then you've still got your Annihilation Barges for light tanks. You've got enough volume of fire to scare a Green Tide (85 Rapid Firing Gauss Flayers, 6 Assault 4 Tesla Destructors). You've got anti-flier with loads of twin-linked Tesla. You only have a couple of AP2 weapons (Warscythes), but you make up for it in sheer volume of fire for dealing with TEQ. Biggest concern I can see is the MSU Warrior squads yielding easy killpoints (but since only one mission plays for killpoints, and the rest are all objectives, I think that's a negligible concern).

Any thoughts on what you would drop/include? Does it seem solid, or will it shred like wet tissue?

You could easily tweak this list for a Single FOC by swapping 3 of the A-Barges with Night Scythes and tweaking some points (maybe dropping one of the Warrior Squads).

As much as I love the D-Lord, I'd prefer to see a foot O-Lord with Phaeron if your going to be running him with a brick. Losing the PE certainly sucks, but then you could start dropping in RC members, making the bricks even stronger, not too mention adding some nice firepower to the smaller squads.

Something like this:

Overlord Phaeron Orb (Staff or Sword) 140
Overlord Phaeron Orb (Staff or Sword) 140

20 x Warriors, Ghost Ark - 375 pts

20 x Warriors, Ghost Ark - 375 pts

5 x Warriors - 2 x Lancetek 1 x Pulse 155 pts (Really this in the GA)

5 x Warriors - 2 x Lancetek 1 x Pulse 155 pts (Really this in the GA)

5 x Warriors , Night Scythe, 2 X Stormtek 225 pts

5 x Warriors , Night Scythe, 2 X Stormtek 225 pts

2 x Annihilation Barge, Tesla Cannon - 180 pts

30 points to spend on whatever, maybe MSS on the Lords.

2 less Tesla D's in this list, but a couple fliers, 4 Lances, and 4 Stormteks in place of them. Most importantly though, only one FOC, so no need to worry about people getting butt hurt about it . Anyway, just my pair of coppers.

The nice thing about your revision is that I actually own (most) of the models I would need for this list, and could reasonably proxy the rest.

I'm torn on swapping between Overlords and a Destroyer Lord. Preferred Enemy is way sexy, particularly on a large brick. On the other hand, Crypteks bring a lot of versatility to my squads. Phaeron....eh. It's rare for me to see a situation where I want Warriors charging (mostly only against Guard). And if I'm bringing something that can pack a Warscythe, it's getting a Warscythe.

Part of the reason I constructed this list was to see if I could build a competitive list without using any kind of fliers - the thinking being that I'll then neutralize any points my opponent spent on AA. If I were insane and possessed the models, I'd do an all foot list to neutralize AT as well. Night Scythes are nice, but I don't think they jive well with the theme of the list - the Necrons you read about in the books, inexorably marching forward.

I do appreciate your C&C, however, and will take it into consideration.
