Hi, I would like some feedback on a army I am currently making. Please give me your thoughts!

Some of the guys at my local store play, and since I have played Warhammer Fantasy before aaaand get a discount since we sell GW-stuff I thought I might start up with the hobby once again. Imperial Guard are awesome but I don't want to play a leafblower list and Raven Guard appear add a bit more of a challenge. Besides they're bad-ass ninja space marines, what's not to love? :p

Anyway, the plan is to "bubble-wrap" my Imperial Guard as best I can around my LRBT stick them all behind the ADL to provide support for my advancing army. Kasrkin will deepstrike suicidally and hopefully take out their biggest tank. If it looks big bad and mechanized I can do the same with the Land Speeders for more effect. Assault marines will aim for 1/3 of the opponents army on one of the flanks while LRBT and Scouts provides support at roughly said 1/3 mark. Vendetta comes in carrying PCS and blasts whatever is still pecking at me or takes on other flyers along with the Icarus Cannon.

I could switch in one scout squad for another LRBT for more redundancy, squad them and simply target separate ends of a unit. Doesn't wok bad for a combined anti-tank anti-infantry duty either. Any suggestions for improvements are appreciated!

Telion is 50 pts, and further I presume 'korvydae' is shrike when you play raven guard? I'd call it a good list, but im no fan of fleet since fleets glory was in fifth edition... Perhaps kantor and sternguards? Or try using a BA codex with your list...

Oh, my bad... Thanks for pointing that out! And thanks for complimenting the list. I really have no idea if it is a good list, an okay list or a bad list as I only started playing 40k recently.

Korvydae is a Raven Guard character from FW who is Master of Recruits and commander of the 10th Company (Scouts). Special Rules are that one must take at least one scout unit to include him and Assault Marines count as troop choices. Making my assault units troops is good for seizing objectives IMO.

No fleet rule for him, but not a big loss... :/

Edit: Reduced one of the Scout squads from 7 men down to 5 men in order to correct for the point cost of Telion; he is now 50 pts. Added a Melta to my CCS with the leftover points. Probably a better way of doing things, but that's what I could think of for now.

Quick question for anyone: In this list, should I remove the lesser scout squad and the naked PLS squad in order to get another LRBT and then rather add those squads again if I go for a 1850 pts list?

I'm wondering if that one LRBT is very vulnerable even with its cover save (being the only tank) and I could always use more heavy support. On the other hand If I do I'm a bit short handed on troops if I do exchange the two.

Any thoughts on this?

The Twilight Zone

If your going to drop your PCS out of the bird, why not give them 4 flamers so they can wipe out some units. 4 lasguns and a pistol wont do much of anything.

Power fists on IG sarges is a horrible waste of points. If you really want something, get a power axe. Why no long ranged guns in the platoon? Instead of meltas you could get autocannons.

Drop the 5 man squad without telly. 5 bs3 snipers wont really do much of anything.

Same thing with company command. BS4 vets are wasted without a good gun. Autocannon or lascannon. Also consider a regimental standard to keep your guard on the board. The company commander can give orders to your platoon infantry; having long ranged AT guns makes use of bring it down! and occasionally fire on my target. You still have lasguns if you need to FRFSRF.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Yeah, that was the plan with the PCS. Because of points I was going for a contesting/cheap scoring unit rather than a more expensive one. Wouldn't want to lose it if my Vendetta crashes (and besides I was thinking it would hang back most of the game). Thought I'd use them for easy steals only... but an upgrade could be worth it perhaps. A bit unsure about this one. Don't have any flamers in my list though so it could be worth it. The Idea behind the PF on the sergeants was in case someone dropped heavy's behind my line, but I guess I didn't really think it through. Str 6 doesn't do much to a Dreadnought... :L

Not a bad idea about better guns on the CCS. I've already recognized myself that I'm lacking in the anti-heavy infantry department. You suggest I remove 90 pts of scouts and 20 pts of PF. Done. Also the Melta on my CCS can go, which then gives me 120 pts of wriggle space.

So, options:

A) Since the CCS was going to sit on the Icarus cannon anyway I could give them a LC, PG's (w. medic?) and MoO.
B) I change the Icarus Cannon to a Quad Gun for more effect and add an AC//ML and PG's (w. medic?), maybe even MoO.
C) I originally had a HWS of 3xML for added AT/AA but removed it in order to get what you see in the list now. I could put it back in, and either add a few PG's/Sniper Rifles to the CCS and perhaps also remove the Icarus Cannon completely (... not really a good idea IMO) in order to fill out the CCS even more. Could also remove the PLS of 50 pts in order to help add that extra HWS with 3xML.

Thoughts on this?

Personally the Quad Gun, PG's and AC sound like the best choice IMO. Even though the ML has skyfire missiles. And I'm still drooling over the thought of re-introducing the ML HWS back into the list. Could do both perhaps. Unfortunately I haven't got the IG codex yet, and keep borrowing one from where I work. So in other words I won't be able to do the math of these changes quite yet....

Updated the list (see first post). So if no-one has anything to add I wonder if this is the list I'll go for! So thanks to HumeyKillar and Dr. Stirling for the help.

I was thinking that for 1850 pts I could drop a PLS and add another LRBT and squad the two (I know a lot of people don't like this but couldn't I simply target different models in a unit and hope for, or count on, a bit of scatter?).

At 2000 pts I could re-add the PLS along with a HWS: 3x ML for extra AT/AA, or I could add a Storm Talon Gunship.

Sound like a good plan?
