Got a good deal on a SM Suppression Force with the two Whirlwinds and one Landspeeder. I have a sprue in the box that I'm not sure what it goes to. Looks like a mix of Imperial, Eldar, Chaos and Tau parts on one sprue. I'm not sure if maybe the landspeeder was supposed to have another sprue and this one was put in there instead or just a goof by Games Workshop and I got a free sprue. If anyone else has purchased this box and knows what it goes with, any info would be helpful.



Also, if you did get this box, were you also missing some pieces to the Rhinos? I'm missing three items off both sprue B of the Rhino. One of the headlight pieces and two tracks R3 and R7. I found it weird that both sprues are missing the same pieces, probably a defect that happened when it was made and no one realized it till some had shipped out.

I'm planning on writing Games Workshop to see if they will send the parts to me. I've heard that they are good about doing that, will have to wait and see.

It's deliberately put in there. It''s a command sprue for Apocalypse. To make the commander tanks look snazzy.

That's a squadron command sprue...don't know if it's supposed to come with that set or not, but it's under the bits section under vehicle accessories on the website

The space marine suppression force is an apocalypse battle formation with 2-5 whirlwinds and a landspeeder which is used as a spotting vehicle - basically making your whirlwinds reroll scatter and have unlimited range (as long as the target is close to the land speeder).

The sprue is the squadron command sprue which came with all of the battle formations like Ghosty said.

That sprue as said is the Squadron Command Frame. You basically only want the large SM targetter style unit. It sits in the top of a hatch in one of the Whirlwinds and designates it as a command vehicle. Not sure if you actually need it in the suppression force as there isn't a set "command" Whirlwind.

IIRC, you need to designate the Land Speeder as the spotting vehicle, but I can't see the targetter looking good on a land speeder. Maybe some sort of handheld targetter for the passenger side marine instead of his weapon. Then you could mount your MM on the speeder itself. I dunno, could look cool...
