My friend and I have decided to get into Warhammer 40k, him playing Orks and myself as Imperial Guard. Before we invest too much money in we're gonna start with 500 point armies

This is what I've come up with so far

CCS -165 points
-4 Plasma guns, Chimera with multi-laser and heavy flamer
Veteran Squad 155 points
-3 Melta guns, Chimera with above
Veteran Squad 155 points
-3 Melta guns, Chimera with above

This leaves me with 25 spare points, not sure what I'd add. Either Standards or Vox, I guess?

As far as I know, my friend is using ~40 boyz with shootas, a warboss and 2 deffkoptas.

Thanks in advance for advice

Well if your looking for something to go against him specifically, then I'd just go pure flamers. But other than that as it stands, Looks quite nice.
Wouldn't recommend voxes as orders dont have a massive impact and you cant issue them to guys embarked in vehicles. Regimental standard isn't really appropriate seeing as how every ones in chimeras so they're effectively fearless.
With that last 25pts, for a more TAC list could swap 1 melta vets to plasma vets. At 500pts there wouldn't be a huge amount of armour requiring a meltagun and a plasmagun will suffice, whilst still being good against infantry.
For an army specific to the orks, I'd take 3 flamers and an autocannon in each vets squad. So then you can pillbox and get rid of the koptas, then template the rest. Normally you wouldn't want to waste the bs4 on flamers but in that case I'd see it as justifiable.
Either way I think the orks would find it hard to win.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined
