They are resin bases. There are a good few companies that make them and lots of people cast their own.

I have switched over to using them for my armies now, I find them easy to paint, much better stability (cuz of the added weight). You can usually find 10 for $10 of most 25-30mm bases. 5 for $10 on 40mm and so on....

I use the Secret Weapons Miniatures stuff, but I buy it from

www.miniaturemarket.com because they are cheaper for the product and the shipping.

www.secretweaponsminiatures.com Here you can see all of the bases they make.

War Store has a ton of them from a ton of manufacturers as well, Shipping is higher so buy in bulk to make it worth while.

BIGGEST thing with resin bases is, wash them in warm soapy water before trying to prime or paint them. I have found that for some reason they have a ton of mold release still on them. Also Plan out where you are going to put your models on which bases before painting them. It sucks to have a painted model and a painted base and then your sitting there trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.....

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.
