The Dar'thul Assimilation Team is a special forces team tasked originally with protection of Water Caste Diplomats when they first arrive on Imperial Worlds, their forces are meant to inspire a mixture of awe and fear into the Imperials or local Xenos upon landing with the diplomats. In the case that diplomatic proceedings break down, they are the ones who get the diplomatic forces out of action and into safety, as well as the force that is called upon when a world vehemently denies the ideals of the Greater Good and must be eliminated appropriately to avoid risk to important Tau assets and to pave the way for colonists.

The team deploys primarily crisis suits in its actions, they believe in fewer, stronger units providing a more powerful presence than hordes of weaker ones, and the majority of its pilots are seasoned veterans of wars past. In recent times they have been assigned mostly to combat the Achilus Crusade and prevent the loss of Imperial Secession Worlds belonging to the Tau Empire and to put down worlds that have changed allegiances back to the Imperium. Many Gue'vessa have been rallied to great deeds by the presence of Dar'thul forces, even against their fellow Imperials.

Rumors abound that the Dar'thul also fields special units in tandem with Earth/Water Caste researchers, however such knowledge is usually stripped from public records before it can be looked into further.
