Hello dakka dakka, so i have been wanting to make a LotD HQ for a while now but the thing im worried about it making him to op and not having the people of dakka look at me/him and go GTFO fanboy your fluff is to op.

So the first thing i wanted to do was base him off an already exiting characters data sheet. i picked Vulkan

So his profile would be as follows

WS: 6 BS 5 S 4 T 4 W 3 I 5 A 3 LD 10 Sv 2+

Ok so this is where i want to incorporate some fluff but not make him OP as all hell So here are some rules i though of and i wanted to know what the dakka community though of them before i write it in stone.

Unholy specters: All infantry units gain the fearless and terrifying rule
The LotD is known for never running from a fight and strikes fear into the heart of their enemy which is why i thought of this rule.

Flames of vengeance: All boltguns fire using the following profile
24" 4 4 rapid fire

It is said the LotD fire super heated rounds that rip through armor so again i went with this. Thought about taking kraken bolts but that seems a little much for me

Now im not saying i want to take both, that would be just silly but mybe one or the other, Think about putting his point cost some where in the neighborhood of 200-280 if i took the flames of vengeance rule.

Again i am open to any and all suggestions, criticism, praise, and thoughts that the Dakka community has TY for reading!

I'm unsure about costing, but I would perhaps make the following changes:

Relentless Dead: ~ and any Legion of the Damned squad that ~ is attached to gain the Feel No Pain USR.

Feel no pain is essentially a slightly better version of Reamination Protocols, is simpler, and doesn't steal any of the Necrons thunder or require that players cross-reference rules. Additionally, I would like to see this guy either make LotD scoring or possibly even a troops choice, since he is a LotD character. I would tie this into his Chapter tactics. Speaking of which, I prefer Unholy Specters to Flames of Vengeance (since US is good in all situations, whereas FoV is only good against specific codices), but I would change it so that it gives Fearless and changes S&P to Relentless instead. I'd also prefer not to have a wargear duplicate for Vulcan, maybe a plasma weapon of some sort instead, but that is largely just my personal thoughts. I'd also replace the 2+ save with a 3++ due the the Unyeilding Specters rule (which you have forgotten, so I added it). With the changes I suggested, he would look like this:

Restless Dead: ~ and all Legion of the Damned models in the squad that ~ is attached to have the Feel No Pain USR.
Chapter Tactics: Unholy Specters
~ is the leader of the Legion of the Damned, and when he appears, the specters appear both in greater numbers and with greater ferocity than usual. All Legion of the Damned units in you army are scoring. Additionally, they gain fearless and replace the Slow and Purposeful USR with the Relentless USR.

Costing:

Well what i was looking at was if this guy was fielded your army becomes the LotD like tac squads are LotD still the same stats and no 3++ but they had fearless.

This way my whole army was the legion.
