I've been looking to play some 40k lately, but rather than going out and dropping a bunch of money on new models, I thought I would ask for help building an army from what I already own. My limited collection comes from three attempts to build a Blood Angels army in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th editions.

Listed below are all of the models I own. Could anyone suggest a 1000 pt army using these models? I could possibly even go higher than 1000 pts if I included Mephiston.

Here is what I have:

1. Tactical Squad – 10 marines, flamer, missile launcher, sgt with bolt pistol/chainsword

2. Tactical Squad – 10 marines, flamer, missile launcher, sgt with bolt pistol/chainsword

3. Assault Squad – 10 marines, all jump packs, sgt with power fist

4. Dreadnought – blood fist/storm bolter & multi-melta

5. Mephiston

6. Captain Tycho

7. Librarian with bolter & force axe

8. Techmarine with servo arm

9. Chaplain with bolt pistol & crozius arcanum

10. UNASSEMBLED: 9 death company (with enough bits to give them whatever wargear is needed)

11. UNASSEMBLED: assault squad box (5 marines)

12. Remains of two failed attempts to build a terminator squad: Terminator sgt with power sword and storm bolter, Terminator with assault cannon & chainfist, terminator with lightning claws, terminator with heavy flamer (paint stripped, missing arm), terminator with thunder hammer (paint stripped, missing arm)

I would be grateful for any suggestions!

At 1K points, I would use a regular libby as my general. Actualy this is not terrible, but you really need some razorbacks for the tactical guys.

Let me explain: the BA got kicked in the balls in 6th edition. Not one huge kick in the nuts; a bunch of little ones:

1) No +1 init from furious charge
2) Can't assault from non-assault transport no matter what
3) FNP is nerfed vis a vis small arms fire
4) Mephiston is AP 3
5) Dante is init 1

You get the idea. The army is still playable, but not very, well, good.

One major advantage we still have is fast vehicles. Fast vehicles are amazing on the move. Move 6" and fire all weapons or move 12" and fire 2 at full BS. Conveniently, the las/plas razor back has 2 weapons!

I think the best way forward is this edition is hybrid mech/assault. Any assault troops you want must be on jump packs or in a LR.

So with these models, I'd get a couple of razors, combat squad the tacticals. Put the heavy part of the tacticals behind an aegis line with a quad gun. Put sarge and the special weapon guy in the razor.

I strongly recommend vindicators, auto/las predators and Baal predators as armor. They are all amazing with fast.

As composed, you don't have enough jump troops to do a jumper list (I don't recommend this approach, but most disagree with me), so you should shoot for hybrid assault/mech. The assault troops are key for keeping other assault troops off your tanks.

Under no circumstances will foot slogging BA work in 6th edition. The codex barely functions taking our best stuff.

Oh, yes, you'll need a sanguinary priest or two as well.
