Hi guys, quick question here:

I have an Eldar army and since 6th edition no longer allows inv saves vs perils, one of my friends keeps hopelessly whipping out my psykers.
Can you guys tell me if this is as we see it:

-My opponent always has 2 stormravens in reserve with his GK list.
- Most of the time they both arrive turn 2
- They fire like 8 mindstike missles at eldrad.. who then suffers 6 perils or so.
- I can only go for my ghosthelm save (fortune has no effect).

^^ this is what kills every psyker in my list turn 2. If he's lucky he kills eldrad, a warlock and a farseer just by firing those 8 missles turn 2.
He comes out of reserve..so I cant stop it from happening. Last time he got lucky...his first 4 missles killed eldrad and a warlock.. so he was able to fire the other 4 at my farseer..wich died as well.
Its almost 400pts down the drain every time turn 2.

Is there any way to stop this? Is there some rule or FAQ im missing? He does the same to another friends tyranids army. 4-6 mindstrikes on his swarmlord..and he's just gone without anything we can do about it. Its just silly that you can no longer make invun saves isnt it?

Thats how it works. Those missiles screw psykers but aside from that they are just a frag blast.

Nothing you can do but spread out so you don't get as many psykers under the blast.

Just be glad your silly Eldar psykers get something against the Mindstrike.

Sadly, you can't do that much about it. However, rules for Flyers state that they may only fire two missiles per turn. You're still eating four MS missiles, but if you deploy tactically & are lucky, you may be able to save a psyker or two.

Sometimes, the only truth people understand, comes from the barrel of a gun.

Flyers can only fire 2 missiles a turn, so max of 4 from 2 flyers a turn, thats how you can stop it.

2 options ...
1) take a unit of harlequins and make him test to see them (average of 14" max 24" min 4") ... fun fact if you roll to see them and can't ... you cannot fire that turn. Tears is a really over powered power in this edition. forgot they swap the powers for Stealth and Shrouded
2) take a bastion and sit them inside

Also worth noting that he'll need LOS to fire and you don't to use your powers ... (place a unit on ruins above your farseer and keep him out of site below)

Or, put them in transports? they would have to destroy the transport first but if in cover and out of LOS range of most things that can do that they should be ok as the storm raven wont be able to destroy/wreck the transport in the same shooting phase.

Not sure if eldar have much interceptor units? but they are always good against flyers

@tri: veil of years had been changed. Just gives stealth and shrouded.
To OP: as previously stated, each flyer can only fire two missiles per turn. You can either hide in a transport (note that three of five farseer powers work within transports) or (my preference) ADL with quad-gun manned by a fire dragon exarch with both powers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I know i just remembered ... it's been a little while since i last played eldar. It's a shame really as that power was the only reason to ever take them.

You've never seen what a squad of Harlequins with Fortune advancing in cover can do have you?

It's um, put mildly, super, super good. One of the best things in the codex, unless someone hits them with a flamer.

2+ Re-rollable cover with Look out Sir if you take a second character - Like a Troop Master - up front. It's damn near unstoppable.

Also, depending on your interpretation of the FAQ, you can put an Archon with his 2++ save up front and make the squad damn near unstoppable-er. Husk blade, 2 fusion pistols and a blaster pistol and a Farseer. With Rending it gets a little expensive but should be under 350 points, can't be killed and will kill almost everything in assault. I basically play the entire rest of the army just to get stuff out of transports so they can be killed by this squad.

I love it. Wins me tournaments regularly.

Generations have suffered with the same devotion that we can offer but once. Still, our Faith leads us through these dark times like a beacon. It will guide us to triumph over these abominations. Which doesn't help the psyker from perils in the warp.

As mentioned before the Ravens can only fire two missiles each per turn so that will help quite a bit as far as volume of fire. Also, if you make sure to have your psykers out of LOS when they come in he can't place the marker on top of them and so has to hope for a good scatter. If the blast marker doesn't touch the psyker's base then there is no perils, just a regular frag blast. Obviously transports would work just as well for this like others have mentioned.

Do Warlocks even get effected by Mind Strike missiles? They are Psykers fluff-wise, but in practice they are mastery 0 and as such are as eligible targets as your average guardian.

They are Psykers so yes, they would suffer Perils.

Stormravens when moving as a flyer can only fire two missiles as poitned out. You can however, drop down to a skimmer and fire all 4 missiles if you so choose. You're not a fast skimmer, so don't get a jink as you would as a flyer.

That unit is quite killable, honestly less scary than a 10 man Paladin squad lead by Draigo. And that unit I gun down regularly with my GKs.

The underlined is not correct.

You are a lucky person, there are that many things that ignore cover and they're not even a great CC unit.

Its a small blast template correct? If so the wounds are done from closest back so if you have guys in front and the wounds dont reach how would you take a perils. Unless its barrage?
Oe is there some rule that makes it able to snipe?

Fixed that for you with the orange. Yes it is the small blast marker.

You take a perils because the rules for the Mindstrike missiles states that any Psyker hit by the missile suffers a perils of the warp in addition to any other effects. P.57 C:GK
