a solid first effort...needs some highlights and could stand for using some thinner paints it seems.

It looks like paint might have come off the left leg there, did you undercoat the model before painting it?

A solid effort. Make sure you prime the models and then when you are feeling it start highlighting the edges with a lighter colored paint.

This one I did not undercoat, but I have picked up some Army Painter spray so looking forward to try it out, any tips on that process? It is cold where I live so I dont know it that will affect the spray.

If you tape it to something you can carry, shake the can real good for a couple of minutes for best use, then go out, spray and bring back in. Most primers and paints dry better in heat. Make sure you hold the can about a foot away and do light coats, to much will fill in detail. If you have a garage, go in there, that's what I do. Hope this helps.

Gloves that you don't mind spray painting all over...I recommend using sticky-tac or something similar and putting the model on something where you can give a light spray to all angles. It's tempting to just do a ton of models at once but this invariably gives you spots where nothing was hit by the spray.

I just use an egg carton, stick the model to one end using blu-tack, hold the other, and then give it a spray.

For what it's worth, I use a small square of foam tape and popsicle sticks to "hold" the models as I primer them. Allows me to get at the at all angles and not have to worry about gloves! If you need to get a bunch of models primered, you can set up multiple sticks and do it assembly line style, letting the coat on the first dry as you finish the first pass on your last.

Found it, spray the army painter onto a paint stirring stick then set the models onto the stick and let the paint dry, it acts almost like a glue holding them there, this then allows spraying them from every angle.

That could work, but when you pull the models off either the paint is going to come off or you're going to break it. What I recommend is getting some sort of tray (cardboard boxes work nicely if they're large enough to hold with one hand with no trouble), putting your models on it (if they have the little slits in their bases, push your models into those without glue so they stand up straight) and then spraying a foot away. You can then let that dry, take your models of their bases, and spray the undersides.

Ya, mine was just for small models like space marines, your idea sounds really good, I'll have to try it out

Solid color placement mate, which is a great start in itself. The rest, you'll get it in time. Just listen to the experienced Forumers here as I did!

I just grab the underside of the foot and spray away. Later I wash my hands after painting because I inevitably get them covered in paint especially if I'm doing a few hours at a time.
For the models, its a solid first painting. You will just have to go back and touch up details (i.e. the purple on the silver edging of left paldron. That, to me at least, is one of the most frustrating parts of painting is going back time and time again for small details. SM are far easier than DE though. Try a wash and dry brushing on em, always makes them look better.
