Would an Ork trukk positioned behind an ADL during the first turn while night fighting is in place receive a 2+ cover save against glancing and penetrating hits? Assume its at least 24 inches away from the opponent. Im thinking that in those games that I do not go first I want to place my trukks (with reinforced rams) behind the ADL for a 4+ cover and in night fight Id get a 2+ cover.... Ill just roll over the ADL during my moevement phase with the reinforced ram allowing me to re-roll dangerous tests.

Is it 25% obscured...?

If yes, then yes it would get a 2+ provided it is granted shrouded from night fight behind the ADL.

If no, then no.

What the above guy said. It isn't enough for vehicles to just be behind a wall or a rock or what have you. The vehicle must actually be 25% obscured from the point of view of the shooting unit. For the old Ork Trukks, the ADL is more than enough to hide them (I do this all the time). For the newer huge Ork Trukks, I'm not sure if the ADL is tall enough.

The ADL can provide cover to a LR, so if the trukk is at least as tall as a LR then it gets the cover. The 25% of any model isn't really much.

Models can be on hills or in upper levels of ruins easily seeing over the ADL.

You can't just assume that the trukk gets cover from the ADL, you have to physically check each time a unit is firing at it.

As above^

If the trukk is 25% of obscured it will get the cover from the Aegis. Then it will also benifit from nightfighting. If the Aegis is not covering enough it will only get Stealth/Shrouded from Night Fighting. If it is obscured it will get the 4+ cover plus whatever it gets from night fighting.

Yes, Trukks and Battlewagons can be 25% obscured by the ADL. Also, many of the players posting here keep saying 25% of the vehicle for brevity, but it is 25% of the FACING that the firer is firing from (page 74).

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

Yeah, that's really important since it is the facing, even if you are uphill, if the tank is near the ADL you migh tbe able to see more than 75% of the actual tank, but the facing (i.e. front one) would be obscured 25%

Thank you for the replies. I think Ill be committing to my Ork Trukk army now. I like in 50% Ill go first and get the 24inch move straight away with the trukks - in the other half of my game, it will be night fighting and most if not all of my trukk s will be obscured by the ADL - getting 2+ cover. Worst case is not going first and not night fighting (25% of the time) - but even then Ill make sure to get the 4+ cover from the ADL.
