Hi all. It seems the possibility of me moving to NC (Concord/Charlotte) is coming up soon, and I have family in SC. SO, in case I end up in that general area...whats the gaming and convention scene like? What & where are the good gaming stores (NC in particular)?...any decent conventions in the area?

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too

Hello,
I live near the Greenville SC area (1.5 hours from Charlotte). The main store there, particularly for miniatures, is Borderlands Comics & Games (they have a Facebook page). They have (or can order) just about any RPG, board or miniature game you need. They host tournaments for WFB/WH40K, Warmachine/Hordes and FoW--a few tourneys per year for each system. They have plenty of tables custom-built for miniatures gaming.
Sorry I am not familiar with what stores are there in Charlotte. I'm sure someone else can chime in.
Coming up soon (Jan 18-21) is the SCARAB convention in Columbia SC. It features RPGs, board games and miniature games. Here is a thread about the miniatures tournaments: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/493931.page.
In Charlotte itself is the annual MACE convention. It isn't till November I believe. It has RPGs, board games and miniatures, though I think the only minis it offered were Warmachine/Hordes and BattleTech. I went last year and it was well run.
The 11th Company Podcast holds a WH40K (+Fantasy??) tournament in Myrtle Beach SC. I believe it's in November. They may have other events though.
Hope I gave you some items to Google.

Happy Gaming!

We are starting a Warmachine Hordes League. Right now we have 4 -5 players with armies of (Khador, Menoth, Cygnar, Cryx, and Circle of Oroborus). We have all decided to keep the league to 15 points for a while so every one can field fully painted armies. We meet on Thursdays and sometimes Weekends, have a beer play a few games. We are ages 25 - 33 and welcome any one with a good sense of humor and a mild dose of maturity.

We don't mind if you play one of the armies mentioned or if you have never played a strategy game in your life and want to start we are more than happy to help.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Zygomax, my parents live in Greer, Ive been to Greenville a couple times. I noticed on my way out of town on the last visit the live very close to a place called Mad Robot Games.

Though we would first be moving to the Charlotte area Id actually like to migrate to the Greer/Greenville area eventually.

Sure thing!

The Greer store is actually: www.bigrobotgames.com. Looks like they are MtG-, board- and RPG-focused, as opposed to mini-gaming. Haven't been there myself.

There is also Boardwalk, also MtG-, board- and RPG-focused. They've got great selection.

I have a friend in Charlotte who mentioned a game store there, can't remember the name though. There's probably several given the population.

Later!

I live in greer and the closest thing I know about is my friends garage and borderlands (even though I wouldn't go to play). Definately not good enough and gas is to high, plus I like beer when I play also.

On building Tyranid army flow chart.
