Was there a standard color for the RSO tractors? I've seen them in Dunkelgelb and green and lots of colors in between, any ideas?

Pretty sure they just painted them up the same as the other vehicles in the company, at the very least they'd have a basecoat of Dunkelgelb.

Depends on what year you're going for. Up to '42 they would be painted Dunkelgrau. From '43 on they would be Dunkelgelb, or two or three color camo (that is, a Dunkelgelb base with Olivgrün and/or Rotbraun patterns over top).

If you're going for a unit in winter, they could also be whitewashed.


Paint was often issued to units and they would paint and camouflage the vehicles themselves, so there could be a lot of variation, although this varies based on the year as well.

Certainly you aren't restricted in your design scheme, stick to the aforementioned colours and you can basically do what you like. Tankers painted their own tanks camo so you've got a lot of leeway here. Plus IMO German 3-colour camo looks great.

Did a base coat of Dunkelgelb, probably not going to add any camo to that. Will probably do the tarp in a green/grey color, so my only hangup now is how to do the windows.

Still pretty early, gotta do the tracks, touch-up and finish the windows, touch up the tarp, and other small things.

Did a mix of 50/50 Luftwaffe Camo Green and Dark Gray for the tarp.

Looking good definitely going to keep an eye on this...
