In terms of the RAW? No reason.

But it is kind of silly that these units who supposedly throw themselves into a charging opponent get the same round of overwatch fire as those that stand their ground, it's also a bit silly that the counter-charging models get to make snap shots during a charge but the charging models don't as far as I'm concerned.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

The reason being is that the charging unit is assumed to have already shot that turn.

yes, and the unit being charged already shot in it's own turn.

they always had the same opportunity to fire during a shooting phase as the charging unit.

The reason they get to shoot is that they are just taking pot shots before the charge hits their line. Look at overwatch like a kind of last ditch spray of fire before the enemy hit. If you're able to fire and get your knives out normally, why shouldn't units better at getting their knives out quick not be able to fire when charged?

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.
