I am preparing an army for the school league tournament sometime in the near future and have decided to take Chaos as my army of choice. Only problem is I am still new to the whole codex and only have a pretty rough idea on what I should take and what I shouldn't. Here is the list I currently have! (There are no restrictions besides the 600 point limit btw)

HQ

Chaos Sorcerer W/Mark of Nurgle, Mastery Level 2 - 100pts

Troops

5 x Chaos Space Marines - 75pts

7 x Chaos Space Marines W/ Plasma Gun - 116pts

Heavy Support

5 x Havocs W/ 4 x Missile Launchers - 135pts

1 x Obliterator W/ Veteran Of The Long War - 73pts

Fortifications

Aegis Defence Line w/ Quad Gun - 100pts

Total: 599 Points

So, what do you guys think, any suggestions? The reason I have a relatively squishy 5 man Unit is to sit behind the quad gun.

I would change the 1 oblit and the aline to a single helldrake.

It would be good vs enemy plyers (not that there will be a ton) and will really help you destroy light vehicles and poor infantry standing in the open.

I would also drop 2 missile launchers down to auto cannons. 2 more shots and very good vs light vehicles and infantry alike (which you have a problem with since you have so few models.

I would try to turn some guys into plague marines, or possibly add cultists as 12 scoring models is just too easy to kill.

How about 2-3 blocks of cultists and a 10 man unit in a rhino?

You also may want to keep your sorceror at lvl 1. There is not alot of spells he even cares about or will use at this point level.

You need to think how you can maximize! Kill them all!

Thats strong.

3 scoring units (hide the cultists) plus a unit of marines.

You have anti flyer, infantry, and light vehicle.

The biggest problem I see is you couldnt kill armor 14. I doubt you will see alot of it at 600 points but maybe a melta in the chaos marines would help.

Well, thanks a ton I guess! I'm not sure if there is anything more I can swap for a Melta Gun, as you said, at this points amount, very little A14 So I don't see it being too big a problem! I'll let you know how the army plays out for sure though!
