So I talked to a guy who has like 35 Zoat models, just for a collection, and who has not played since 2001 or so. Then I was thinking, what kinda rules should they have if one were to play with them?
Here's what I came up with, what do people think of this?
Zoat WS 3 / BS 3 / S5 / T5 / W2 / I3 / A2 / 4+
Zoat Champion WS 3 / BS 3 / S5 / T5 / W3 / I3 / A3 / 4+
Unit/Composition 2 Zoats + Zoat Champion 120 points
up to 7 extra Zoats +35 points per model
Special Rules: Cavalry, Relentless, Zoat Smash
Zoat Smash: When charging into close combat, a Zoat unit may forgo their bonus attacks for charging and instead whip their tails and rear ends into the enemy. Zoat Smash attacks are Strength 7/AP4. Any To Hit rolls of 1 for Zoat Smash attacks however cause a S5 hit on the Zoat unit; that can be a sensitive spot to attack with!
Wargear: 2 close combat weapons
up to 2 Zoats may take one of the following options:
flamer +5 points
heavy bolter +10 points
Zoat cannon +25 points (Two firing modes......assault 6/S1: poison 4+/AP4/24", or heavy 1/small blast/S6/AP4/30")
The Zoat Champion may take any of the following upgrades:
Nerve Dampener +30 points ( this gives the entire unit Feel No Pain.)
Heavy Flamer +10 points
Power Fist +25 points
Red Gas +15 points (this gives the entire unit Rage)
Fully loaded Champion, with 2 Zoat cannons, max unit size, it would be about 500 points, but oh what a fun thing to try!
