I recently bought two boxes of scouts in order to round out two squads of Shotgun and BP/CCW Scouts, and am left with a pile of scout Bolters. My thought is to get two boxes of Sniper scouts and give them the Bolters so they have Camo Cloaks and I'd meet WYSIWYG requirements. Has anyone tried this and can tell me how compatible the kits are? I don't mind some minor work making things fit, but extensive rebuilding might be too much.

Thanks!

They are no compatible easily. The sniper scout torsos have the arms up to the elbows or wrists attached as a single piece and the bolter arms are full arms. The conversion is possible, but I wouldn't say it's super easy.

there was a really really old WD article on this conversion (from the first one I ever got :'3) I cant remember the number of it but I think it was back when the black templars had just got their last update. there was a really angry looking black templar on the front. it might have been september 2005

anyway, if you cant find it it pretty much whent "cut the bolter arms up a little and pin them to the sniper scout torso, using GS to fill the gaps"

if you can find the article then it'll be much more help I'm sure

ah yeah, it was issue 312 (pic of the cover: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=white+dwarf+312&view=detail&id=BC8E42B1B306D3615F2C2B1827BB809E7A7651C7)

if you can get hold of that it'll be really helpful

Sounds good; I'll see if I can turn it up. I think I'll go ahead and order the sniper scouts. Can't hurt to at least try it.

Thanks

It's an easy enough conversion - a little trimming to remove the Sniper Rifle then drop in a bolter from a tactical marine :
