I'm going to a tournament with my brother and he wants to win so I'm trying to make an army that will achieve his goal. I would like the help of dakka and thanks to any who replys.

Chaos lord – black mace, sigil of corruption, mark of nurgle, blight grenades, plasma pistol, gift of mutation - 180
The lord will go in the marine unit to help them tarpit.

Sorcerer – 1 level, sigil of corruption, burning brand of skalathrax, mark of slannesh – 155
The sorcerer will buff, hex and BUUUURN!!!!

20x Chaos space marines – close combat weapons, 2xplasma guns, lighting claw, icon of vengeance, vets of the long war, melta bombs – 405
Tarpitters.

Chaos cultists – autoguns, heavy stubber, mark of tzeentch, shotgun, gift of mutation – 87
Extra troop choice and may provide some usefulness.

Heldrake – baleflamer – 170
To burn space marines and other 3+ saves units.

Total: 997

And my brother is playing necron air force by the way.

1st of all, I think you need more troops. In a 1k game, I don't think you need 20 man squads of marines. Secondly, I don't think that you should have 2 HQs at this points level. If you want CC, go with the Chaos Lord. Also, the Black mace isn't all that great on regular infantry due to bring ap 4. If you REALLY wanted to, you could take out both HQs and put in a DP w/ wings, black mace, MoS, and psyker level 2. The DP can smash so he'll be Strength 10, AP 2, with the cursed rule from the Black Mace. I would also suggest power fists for you champions, as it gives them a better chance of killing other characters.

Your cultists are going to walk off the board as soon as someone so much as gives them a hard look. None of the upgrades are going to save them because 3 dudes dying is all it takes to makes them run. A 6+ invuln save isn't worth the consideration. If you want to run cultists, take a lot more (20-35) so they can make it past turn one.

Your 20 man Marine blob is geared for close combat, but you gave them plasma guns which would prevent them from assaulting if fired.

I don't like the idea of a Slaanesh Sorc without Noise Marines present. What if you roll Symphony of Pain and there are no Sonic weapons to amplify? This offends Slaanesh, but is really just a preference thing.

I'd say if you want a tarpit, take 2 large squads of cultists and stick an HQ in each one, then either make two smaller squads of CSMs OR get some use out of that Mark of Nurgle your Lord is wearing to get some Plague Marines as troops. 5 man PM squads can take 2 Plasma Guns and be very comfortable camping objectives.

Ultra-Mega-Chicken is Ultra-Mega-Chicken.

Lose the plasma pistol and possibly the blight grenades on your Lord. PPs are never really worth the points.

Finally, don't reply to your own posts in an expectant tone and expect people to comment as politely as we have, if at all. Not everyone on Dakka plays Chaos so not everyone can give you advice. Be patient and people will respond accordingly.

Depends a bit on what models he has.

I'd take:
skyshield fortification
2x5 havocs with autocannons & mark of nurgle & VOTW (park on shield for 4+ invuln) - 2x135 = 270

chaos lord of nurgle in terminator armour with burning brand (or black mace) ~150
10 plague marines with 2 meltaguns - 260

= 755

Then put in whatever you fancy e.g. heldrake + cultists or another unit of plague marines or my favourite 5 slaanesh bolter noise marines with no upgrades except doom siren (in a rhino).

TLDR: Get less upgrades, get more troops, get a skyshield and put a load of heavy support on it.

If your facing an Necron air force like you said your enemy is i would deffintly have more anti air, your single helldrake will be blown out of the sky and the Gods of chaos will be un happy with you

i agree you should have a larger cultist
I also thing a single demon prince would be better
And i would probably split the chaos marines and give them rhinos

Thank you for your for replys but whats on the list is what i got and some of the equipment i have on there is ethier to fill points or whats on the model. This matters because the tournament i'm going to has strict rules on models so i'm dealing with what i've got.

Lucarikx: thanks for the advice I may try the prince out and the champ has a claw because i think most people will have fists on their sergants which will give me a good chance to kill them and if I face a termi or char I don't a fist will help much.

SkinCarver: I don't expect them to withstand any amount of fire, their mostly a troop slot and may achieve something. The MoT was just to give them some form of protection.
Good point on the plasma guns I think flamers will be a good replacement and their good for overwatch. With the slaanesh sorc I thought the lore was good even without sonic weapons.
I don't have that many cultists but i like the plague marine idea which I can do.
I replyed to my post as i thought the topic would get lost in the hundrudes of other topics as it happend before.

wtnind: I don't have the means to get a skyshield or the havocs(whitch was my orignal plan). The others I could maybe do but thanks anyway.

goodriddans2: I'm not facing necron air force it's going to be my tag partner.
The anti tank will be taken care of by my brother.
