I haven't played Warhammer 40k in over a year and was wondering what the general prices were for primed and some painted models.
I've heard various things like "70%" if they're primed or "half retail price". Of course it depends on condition and other factors. But does anyone know a sort of baseline that I can probably expect?

For Tyranids I have:
Hive Tyrant $53 (retail prices)
2x Zoanthropes $48
Carnifex $53
Trygon $57
Mawloc $57
Biovore $41
6x Hive Guard $144
Broodlord $24
6x Warriors $90
20x Hormagaunts $48
22x Termagants $53
22x Genestealers $82
Total: $750~ (retail)

Space Marines:
Land Raider $74
Rhino $37
5x CC Terminators $50
10x Marines $37
5x Devastator Squad Marines $35
Total: $233~ (retail)

Honestly? There's obviously going to be a different reaction based on your trading partner, and it will even vary model-to-model. However, for plastic models "primed and some painted" sounds like it falls distinctly into the half-of-retail category, possibly less (I have seen plenty of "partially assembled" plastics go for half retail, and they were without paint or primer to deal with). For metals, you might expect a bit more since they're less of a PITA to strip and/or disassemble again.

Like most things - it is really what you can manage to get someone to pay for them...

I wouldn't even hope to see 70% for them...NIB can be had for 75% of retail without much difficulty and I can think or two retailers who go as deep as 30% off for NIB.

The fact that they are assembled, primed and partially painted isn't necessarily a selling point. With the exception of metals - I will not go above 50% on partially assembled and painted figures...as normally, that just means I will have to strip them and disassemble them before I can get to work. Metal is a bit more favorable in that regard as I can tear them down faster and with less chance of dealing with badly assembled plastic models glued up with much too much plastic glue.

Normally, without seeing the figures (either excellent pictures or in my hands) I will shoot for 30-40% of retail on models that have been worked on. If they are fairly clean (well assembled or assembled with super glue) I will be willing to stretch to 50%. If the seller doesn't remember or their are crappy (or no) pictures, I go with 30%. If they are poorly assembled, globbed up with paint and glue of unknown types...I might offer 25% - though more likely just pass them over. There is no shortage of second hand miniatures.

50% for clean unpainted, well assembled an down from there.

Without seeing pics or conditions, I usually go no higher than 20-25%.

Hey thanks guys for the pretty quick responses. I haven't sold anything Warhammer related before and was looking for some opinions on what price people usually look for in used Warhammer models. Thanks again for your responses!

I have bought most of my Tyranid army on eBay, paying 30% to 50% of the then current GW retail price.

Once the eBay price goes about 50% it is increasingly uncompetitive with the price of a brand new kit from a discount seller like Maelstrom who also offer free postage.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

You are aware Maelstrom aren't around any more right? Not that it changes the arguement, but it just suprises me the number of references I've seen to Maelstrom being an option in the last couple of months.
