Here is a new list I made on the fly how can I improve it?

HQ- Huron Black Heart

HQ- Lucius the Eternal

Troops- 10 noise marines w/ 8SB, BM and IoE.

Troops- 10 noise marines w/ 8SB, BM and IoE.

Troops- 15 noise marines w/ 14ccw, power sword, DS, VotLW and IoE.

FA- 3 bikers w/ 2melta

FA- 9 warptalons w/ MoS, VotLW

HS- 3 Obliterators

Fort- Ageis defense line w/quad gun

general plan is throw Huron and Lucy in the big NM squad and infiltrate while the warp talons and bikers advance on the flanks. Bikers are a suicide squad talons are there to try and take the heat off of Huron and Lucy. the other NMs and Oblits sit behind the line providing fire support and AA. Whatcha think are my flaws? I am an experienced chaos player and have been playing them since 4th ed, mainly have run WE and DG so this is my first time playing EC so I just want to know from other EC players what works for them and how to improve upon my list. Sorry if the points are off I built this list on my lunch break and just posted this at work from memory lol

Its a shame you can't squeeze in the dimensional key to take advantage of the non deviating deep strike with your hell talons. Could be "interesting"

I don't have my book with me, but I seem to remember Warp Talons being fearless? Am I misremembering? If so no need for VOTLW.....

Noise marines do chew through the points don't they?

Yea they are very expensive I just played a 1000 pnt match vs blood angels with a chopped down version of this list. Was only able to fit 2 squads of NM Lucy Huron and the bikers. The NMs were close combat kitted and I ended up winning a hard fought battle but seeing how they performed has me sold. Iniative 5 is huge and the FnP although expensive is very helpful...we still need cover though.

I threw VotLW on the talons just for the hatred but in the long run I think it won't be worth it cuz they are already super expensive. I might just replace em with some more anti tank stuff which is my major downfall. Any ideas on that?

This list seems fine.

Personally I dont like warp talons. Too many points for an assualt unit that usually gets shot up. I know they can be devastating when they get there but I think the points could be better spent.

Why dont you drop the big unit of noise marines and take regular CSM with the mark of slaneesh and then give them the FNP banner. You could probably get 20 that way.

I really like noise marines but they are so highly costed when you can take generic marines and give them a ton of buffs and still be cheaper. I know its not the same thing but I feel the non-shooty unit could be better used.

I would consider also trying to get a Helldrake in this list.

Using your shooty base to destroy transports then using the drake to elimnate units seems amazing to me.

You could drop the talons and easily add 1 drake and maybe shave points for some more bodies or a havoc squad with 4 auto cannons for 115.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Cultists are a great way to add cheap scoring bodies to a list that really suffers in numbers. They are even better as they get a 2+ cover when they go to ground behind the aline and then can get up and move to take objectives later. Just wait as long as possible. They can also shoot the quad gun.

the reason i went with noise marines instead of regular CSM was because of the dual DS and fearless but its something i might give a try. I've only got one game with this kind of list so far, so lots of experimentation!!

I agree the warp talons are way expensive for what they do, i just really like the models lol... but i'm guna see how dropping them for 2 vindicators works out.

I wana like the hell drake but in my previous games he just has not done that great for me... probably user error lol

I don't know if Oblits are really worth it anymore because you can't fire the same weapon two turns in a row. Really kills the long range AT and you /need/ that long range AT. I would rather have two squads of Havocs myself in a 7-8 man squad with 4 MLs with Flak. It gives you additional AA that you /really/ need since your Quad gun will be destroyed turn 1 and you can still light up AV 13. You can also make it two LC and two ML since you can almost bet you will see AV 14 at 2k points.

I have to agree with posts above with CSMs over noise marines. I mean, it is 2000pts and you have 35 troops. You still can't charge turn 1 and all your really doing is ditching any cover save you might get from night Fighting with the Scout move. Your opponent has a 50% chance of having two turns of firing on those 35 guys /and/ overwatch fire for when you charge in. Any instant death attacks (melta) ignore the FNP and if you lose the icon you lose the FNP.

Just not enough troops, AT, and AA for me at that point level.

Been playing 40k on and off since 89.

The Hell drake is incredibly usefull. First you fly over one unit, (preferably the heavy weapons squad) and vector strike. That's 2-4 marine's right there. Follow that up with the baleflamer for another 3-6 and you just wiped a squad of marines out with one round of a 170 pt model. If you arm them with an autocannon instead they are great anti-air via the ability to vector strike followed by 4 S8 shots at the rear armor. I usually do not take more than one Helldrake in a friendly game cause they cause a lot of frustration in most lists. If you make your close combat squad just normal marines the only thing you really lose out on is a doom siren as I would guess that you are putting a HQ with them which gives em fearless and you save points.

Instead of a defense line I like to use cultists. You get a 5+ cover and the bonus of not having to worry about being assaulted as quickly even by deep strike units. Another fun unit that plugs a hole in the vulnerability to CC is to run a unit of 5 chaos spawn with a nurgle mark. They can tie up any unit for a couple of rounds and leave even termies looking ragged through sheer valume of attacks.

Though they are expensive I have had good times with my Emperors Children army especially with that extra Blast Master per squad.
