First of all welcome to Dakka I would almost drop the executioner for a reg. LRBT and get an OotF for the CCS...perhaps some cloaks or carapace armor (Don't want your warlord getting pegged SUPER easy). Troops I am fine with. Marbo yes. 3 vendettas, perfect. Manticore, eh OKAY. Medusa, sure.

4000 points
Empire 5500 Points

Looks reasonable overall.
For troops I'm not such a fan of mixing special weapons, but its okay I guess as at least its a melta and plasma, not like a GL and plasma. However against any heavy vehicles, 1 melta from the unit is unlikely to make a kill, and if its AV14 then plasmas wont be touching it.
Would suggest getting the normal LRBT as well and then making the medusa a demolisher.
If your expecting alot of fliers, you could go for a hydra. Normally they're not great since they snapfire at everything else, but if there is plenty of flying targets, they can easily make their points.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

Colossus over the Medusa, but that is my personal pref. You appear to have enough anti tank so the Medusa really is pointless. The colossus denies cover saves, is ap 3 and str 6 so it would wound most everything out there. Just a suggestion. I would also take it over a Manticore any day of the weak lol, I have had 0 luck with the two I got and have stopped deploying them into battles.

No, no, no. In a mech vet list, the Medusa is king. If you use the blocking method with a chimera, the 12" extra range on the medusa can smash things on turn 1 and 2 that the Demolisher only wishes it could.
(The trick I'm talking about is putting a chimera in front, moving out the way, firing the medusa, then flat-out the chimera back to block LOS.)

I've never heard anyone describe a manticore as "meh" they're great units. Love them. People telling you to drop two of the best units in the codex don't know what they're talking about. Especially as they're providing AV:12 saturation to take the heat off your chimeras. Otherwise your opponent has no difficult choices about what to shoot his str:6-8 weapons at: The chimeras. However, with 3 very strong artillery (that can cause a lot of damage in one or two turns to easily justify their cost) your opponent will be ignoring the scoring, vets for the scary artillery, or risk being tabled by turn 3.

Personal changes:

Don't mix weapons. Make them all plasma or all melta. Don't be afraid to use a full melta squad, melta still rocks.
The Harker squad would be better equipped with full plasma so they can actually hit things while hiding in cover. They'd also benefit from an AC or HB. Those guys won't move much once they're in cover.
The last 35pts I'd use for some weapons on the CCS.
Don't lose the Executioner for a LRBT; the LRBT a very average tank and pretty crap at everything but shooting MEQ out of cover, the executioner is expensive, but it really shines in its niche. However, I'd recommend more AV:12, although it's not mandatory. The executioner will be very survivable behind an ADL.

The list is pretty good with a few tweaks, good luck.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

^ second the above.

The Manticore is a fantastic vehicle. I will always run atleast 1 in a list they can put down hordes or heavy vehicles pretty easy. Just don't forget that cover is taken from the hole in the center of the blast so guys begind Agies lines won't get cover saves.

I guess the major difference could be I play against a lot of Marine armies. The Manticore is good strength and wounds a lot of targets with easy but the crappy AP 4 on it's shots is why I stopped deploying it and started rolling in AP 3 weapons. I always deploy aircraft and tanks that handle armor so have never had to rely on a tank like the manticore to take down tanks. So it is all in who we fightreally. If you face off against a lot of green horde, eldarish types, tau, tyranid, demons and the such then it is a good tank. Worthless against grey knights, marinies of all flavors including chaos. At least that has been the case in my games. And with Dark Angels coming in strong now more and more of there types are starting to show so I will stick with my mind set for now lol, anyways good luck and have fun.

I would second this. It depends solely on your meta. I used the manticore all the time when I picked my first one up and it did great , but now my meta is chaos marines and daemons so the manticore does little but pop transports and thats about it. Sometimes it was focused because it was the only 1 and most people hate fighting LRBT's because of the armor and that it destroys theirs marines more easily. The manticore is also usually targeted first and I usually lose it early on making it not get its points back. but as said its your meta.
