I looked through the rulebook during a game last night and couldn't find an answer. Im sure I just missed it if someone can toss me a page number/paragraph. The issue we ran into was an enemy Stormraven was on the field. Mine came in from reserves and I Zoomed it straight at it so they were facing each other about 12" apart. By the end of shooting his Raven was stunned. A stunned flyer basically gets a watered down version of Vector locked where is has to move 18 inches for a round without pivoting. So on his subsequent turn he now must move forward straight at me which would require flying straight into my Stormraven. What happens? Is this a ram attack? If so it would have slim chance of penetrating and it would stop in front of me 11-12" which would be less than it MUST move as a stunned flyer. Does this in turn cause it to crash and burn? Or does the flyer get to fly right past mine? Thanks ahead of time for clarification.

You can't ram as a Zooming flyer. Hm. I'm thinking one or the other will get displaced 1" away, just like droppods do, but I'm not entirely sure.

As long as he has enough room to stop and not be within 1" of your flyer or other enemy models then he just moves over your flyer. However if his flyer meets any criteria where it can not be placed then it is wrecked.

Yep as above said, if it can't be placed its wrecked

I think you have just stumbled upon a clever way to increase the odds of wrecking an enemy flier, through careful positioning. Even a stun-lock will kill it. That is just delightful.

Not really a stumble, people picked up on this very shortly after 6th.

Is this actually a legitimate tactic backed by the rules?

Yes, why wouldnt it be?

It must move X", you ensure that anywhere it can move at X" it does not have a legal place it can be placed, so it is wrecked.

Nah, it just seemed too good to be true. But, wow. Guess I need to be more mindful of the placement of my flyers...
