I'm helping a friend to make a fairly low end gaming pc, we're trying to keep it around £300
So far it's £225.05, but we're not sure what GPU and PSU to go for, and also what cable we need, so this is where you come in Dakka
what we have
CPU- AMD Athlon II X4 640 - 3.0 Ghz
Mother board - Motherboard
Memory- Kingston HyperX 8GB kit
HDD- Seagate Barracuda
Case- Corsair Carbide 300R
So what GPU and PSU do you guys recommend?
What Cables will we need?
Will all these parts fit together?

The parts usually come with all required cables. So you don't have to worry about that.

above guide is good, to be noted, I always go all-in on RAM, its so cheap now, there's no reason not to max it out, I upgraded to an excessive 32gb over christmas and it really makes the difference in getting more mileage out of your other hardware.

Check this link as well, gives a whole range of data, often gives a review as well as a price range for the card. Used to be updated often, not too sure on whether or not it is now, but i think it is....

And yes, just about everything you buy will have the required cables to go with it...and maybe even extras if you get lucky

I always look here when buying kit:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html
When buying AMD CPUs, ATI cards work best, I've heard.
Intel and nVidiia, or AMD and ATI.
If your motherboard handles 2 pairs of RAM, fill 1 pair to start with, and look to double it with a matched set ASAP.
I always split my OS and games, etc on seperate HDDs.
If you can swing it, get a fast boot drive, and a big data drive.

I didn't know it was even possible to get a good gaming PC for under £600...
Myself I'd save on money and just get a console. PCs are very good choices for super high end gaming, but they are NOT cheap.

Tell that to the £400 PC we had that struggled to play Team Fortress 2 at minimum settings.
