I'm always looking to expand my painting techniques. Does anyone have any opinions on this book? I feel I am an ok painter, but this book has intrigued me.

The older one was, in my opinion, fairly worthless...the newer one comes with a nifty dvd that is a bit more helpful...honestly though save your money and watch youtube videos

I really didn't get a whole lot out of it. It appeared to me to be tantamount to shelling out money to watch the same advice I've gotten from Youtube and the hobby sections of rulebooks while having GW products advertised. There was even a section on using liquid green stuff on Finecast products, as though that should be a standard part of model prepping and painting.

Take BrotherVord's advice. If you want to check out new techniques, check Youtube.

That's about what I figured, but good to know for sure.

It's a good book if you've never painted before - but if you have even the slightest bit of knowledge you'll grow out of it in about a month.

I am currently taking commissions.

Yes and no. Same in that it shows you the color and brush to use. It matched the formating the WD used in the beginning of this year. In all honesty if you are painting the GW way, the book has a decent list of formula of paints depending on what you are painting. If you've never painted before is about the only way GW will teach you techniques now. It is a long ways away from the "masterclass" articles they used to have.

I'm an average painter, and I wasn't overly impressed by it. It was better than the last one, but that's not saying much. A lot of the info in it can be found in the White Dwarf that came out with the new paintset (April '12?) or online.

I was given the book for christmas. I already knew prettymuch everything in the book. They give tutorials of different armies and how to paint certain troops in them. The troop choices were not ideal.

Good book for a beginner, but I would save my money and watch youtube.
