I dont even know where to begin looking for this in the BRB, but i thought that was if a unit takes 25% losses in a phase, they must take a leadership test... And a vehicle explosion is part of the phase, isnt it?
So, say you have 4 boys and a nob assaulting a rhino, and the nob power klaws it and it explodes, killing two boyz. Do the boyz then have to take a leadership test?
Above situation didnt happen, its just the simplest thing i could think of to give an example.

If a unit takes 25% losses due to shooting, then they must take a morale check. Wounds taken due to an exploding vehicle, to my knowledge, don't force morale checks. Don't have the book with me, but look up Morale Checks in the back.

If you suffer 25% losses in the movement or shooting phase.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Units inside a vehicle are fearless. They take the wounds / casualties, would autopass the Morale test anyway, then they are placed on the board.

Morale tests are done at the end of the phase, so if the vehicle was exploded they are no longer passengers and no longer fearless.

No, the assaulting orks would not because even if you only have 1 guy left long as you won the conflict you have no moral test. Destroying the vehicle kinda counts as winning.

This. As opposed to "any phase", as in 5th.

Morale tests are done at the end of the phase, so if the vehicle was exploded they are no longer passengers and no longer fearless.
Which would matter, except you dont take morale checks for 25% casualties during the assault phase, as they have specified movement or shooting phase
